When one partner likes to be naked

I re-married 8 years ago, my husband and I are both in our late 70s. Turns out he likes to garden naked. (we moved a few years ago and to a house where we’re not overlooked). He gets irritable when I say I don’t like him sitting on the furniture or wandering around gardening. Bending down to plant or prune. (If you see where I’m going with this) He just says “well don’t look!” He’s fit and active and not mentally impaired, Just rather stubborn. Am I being unreasonable?

Is this real ? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think it’s hilarious tbh

I’m with you! On holiday my husband goes naked as much as possible and it drives me mad, he gets in the hot tub and the bubbles are blasting his germs everywhere, I hate it! And an older man naked makes me barf quite frankly. I ask him how he would like to sit on a garden chair where the previous occupant had sat on it with his hairy bare bum but he just ignores me.

I've heard that naked gardeners do wear a pinny....!

I've heard that naked gardeners do wear a pinny....!

... that probably looks slightly ridiculous from behind!

Why not simply put on a pair of light cotton boxers to protect the nether regions - back and front - from thorns, branches, insects, garden soil, etc?

I wonder, does this husband have a shower before he sits around on cushions and seats - he must be a bit sweaty...

Where does he keep his tools? Great laugh! Saves on washing his gardening clothes!

Hmm...

Reminds me of an occasion many years ago when I was being shown round a house by the estate agent. Looking down from the bedroom window we saw the next door neighbour sunbathing naked.

It was a very warm day....

Did you buy the house? smile

DH is a naturist and so am I now. We sit on a towel or sarongs. No hangups at all. We love the freedom, and fewer things to wash!

TwinLolly Mon 16-Jun-25 21:27:03

EllieW there are just as many germs caught up in a swimsuit/swimming trucks that are let loose in a hut tub.

TwinLolly Mon 16-Jun-25 21:28:11

I mean "hot tub" not hut tubconfused

TwinLolly Mon 16-Jun-25 21:29:25

Trunks instead of trucks -

No we didn't buy the house. Not because of the naked neighbour though.

This thread has made me think of MissAdventure. She would have been quick to post something very witty. I hope she is coping well with her treatment and will be back to posting soon.

Put some prickly plants in the garden?

Tell him that he is NOT allowed to use the chairs that you sit on, but if you have frequent garden visitors then put plastic covers on on all but one
Refuse to go into the same part of the garden when he does this, and turn your chair away.

GrauntyHelen Mon 16-Jun-25 23:50:46

Oh for goodness sake surely se4ing your husband naked is normal !

That's a joint enterprise though, you're both naturally comfortable with it.

Is this even genuine?

Is this even genuine?

You're not the first to ask.

If you read the thread you'll see that others have posed the same question - and that the OP is a regular and posts on various topics.

People post about all kinds of things that don't necessarily occur in others' lives, or seem that important.

Allira Tue 17-Jun-25 12:27:16

Well, I wonder what would happen if friends or family popped by unexpectedly?

Or do they not have any visitors?

WithNobsOnIt Tue 17-Jun-25 13:34:50

Obviously likes letting it all hang out!!! Old man Balls a go go!!! Sounds likr a bit of a power play to me. Bit said really.

As long ss the neighbours don't say anything and they surely must lnow about it and its legal. Think you will be stuck with him.

Has he thought of joining a Nudist Colony? Now rebranded as Naturist Gatherings or whatever. He can meet like minded people.

Think there is one in Knutsford in Cheshire. Used to very popular in the Sixties with the Cheshire Set including Pillars of the Loc Establishment includinf Principles of Local FE Colleges. Solicitors and other professionals

Last word. He really does need to to be aware of low flying stinging insects.

Use plenty of insect repellant!!!

Dickens, it's rather a long thread to read it all. Didn't notice that anyone else had asked the question. I don't have the memory capacity to remember every single poster on here. Perhaps you all know each other, which is great, but please make allowances for those who do not.

LaCrepescule Wed 18-Jun-25 05:32:21

Is he an exhibitionist? This is utterly gross and grounds for divorce.

Gummie Wed 18-Jun-25 11:10:49

He's in his own garden and hurting no one. Leave him in peace to enjoy his garden and some freedom from clothes if he wants. Maybe you could join him and put a bit of spice in the relationship. You never know you might like it.

I rather fancy doing it myself now.

wink

When another person's freedom impacts on others it isn't really freedom at all. God i hate the go on you might like it stuff.

JamesandJon33 Wed 18-Jun-25 17:09:58

And vice versa
