Hamas is the de facto government of Gaza and as such shouls be legally recognised by foreign states, so that Hamas may enter into peace discussions .

Our Prime Minister should recognise Hamas asap and one wonders why he does not do so.

I stand with Palestine

Smileless2012 Fri 01-Aug-25 20:15:28

I couldn't watch them either and am no longer able to watch the scenes of desperate Palestinians trying to get food, and the pictures of starving and injured children.

To be honest AB I couldn't watch those. When I went to Auschwitz neither my husband nor I could go into the gas chambers. We are not Jewish, but we are of that era. I just couldn't stand in a room where I knew people had been deliberately put to death.

I can understand that , i get upset if Auschwitz is shown in a
documentary,

There are some videos released of the Hamas butchery 7th October 2023, not of the rapes , strangling, burning out of respect to the victims, people are asking for more videos to
show what the Israelis suffered

And will be many more to come.

Lathyrus3 Fri 01-Aug-25 09:22:51

It was a diversion in the thread.

Into all the rubbish about “the end of days” and presumably the second coming🙄

I was just pointing out that there had been lots of “end of days”……..

"Quoting biblical stories as facts helps nobody" Well that's the main case for the creation of the State of Israel, David It is the "Promised land" for the "chosen people" and is the main reason for the Palestinians being in the situation they are now in. ie in Gaza and the West Bank.
No it's not "PC to kill millions" and I much prefer to live in a world of unresolved or difficult to resolve conflicts than one where there are no consequences for countries that kill their neighbours over a patch of land. Call me an softie but I much prefer talking to killing!

David49 Fri 01-Aug-25 08:29:17

Quoting biblical stories as facts helps nobody, history is always distorted there would have been no Gaza problem 2000 or even 200 yrs ago. The rebels would have been starved or slaughtered within a few months - end of problem, modern times we have developed a concience, it’s not PC to kill millions so conflicts drag on and on without any resolution.

my unofficial name is, my choice - only two replies
Is that per page or per thread, or per person.
Or am I missing something 🤷‍♀️

Lathyrus3 Thu 31-Jul-25 21:09:46

Never let truth get in the way of belief🙄

fancythat Thu 31-Jul-25 20:33:40

Not true re the 560ishBC.
See Math 24 and Mark 13 apart from anything else - which are both AD. They talk about something in the future. Not the past.

I am going to agree to differ with you now.
And bow out.
My unofficail name is my choice- only two replies

I can tell when people dont believe btw. They use OT only, and choose to totally ignore the New Testament.

Lathyrus3 Thu 31-Jul-25 20:16:08

The book if Daniel refers to the desecration of the temple by the Babylonians 560ish BC.

You know, the Old Testament that has been superseded according to Christians thought, Although of course it is a Jewish book, not a Christian one.

Romola Thu 31-Jul-25 20:08:54

Foxie is right. But until each side genuinely wants conflict to end, negotiations will fail. Israel's leader Netanyahu is a callous despot whose intention is to destroy Gaza, leaving Hamas with no base. He has no interest in relaxing hostilities. Hamas, much weakened, has its back to the wall and hasn't a lot to lose. It is unclear to what extent Hamas has the interest of the Palestinian people at heart.

Lathyrus3 Thu 31-Jul-25 20:07:12

Ah well, people will believe anything they want🙄

Lathyrus3 Thu 31-Jul-25 20:05:32

Umm the Romans, Ottomans and Europeans were all in “New Testament” times. Ever heard of the Crusades?

You’re thinking of Matthew 24.

Devorgilla Thu 31-Jul-25 20:02:49

Just to add to the concept of the End Days, I taught with someone who firmly believes that if the Israelis/Jews are homed in America, that's it for the world. A case of being careful what you wish for.

fancythat Thu 31-Jul-25 20:02:23

In the Book of Daniel, the "abomination of desolation" refers to an idolatrous act that defiles the Temple in Jerusalem, causing it to become desolate and unfit for worship. This concept is first introduced in Daniel 11:31 and is further developed in Daniel 12:11. The term is also used in the New Testament, particularly in Matthew 24:15, in reference to events that will precede the end times

fancythat Thu 31-Jul-25 19:49:51

Well, supercedes the bits that were suprceded. If you see what I mean.

But there is a specific part and verses that I am talking about.
Cant find it for now.
But I will!

fancythat Thu 31-Jul-25 19:46:48

You are talking about the Old Testament.

We have been in New Testament times and rules, for 2025 years or thereabouts.
The New Testament rules and words, supercede the Old Testament.

Lathyrus3 Thu 31-Jul-25 18:41:51

Jerusalem was captured by King David (Israel) around 1000 BC
Then taken by

Babylonians
Persians
Greeks
Romans
Ottomans
Europeans

None of those have led to the End.

Best to do a bit of research?

fancythat Thu 31-Jul-25 13:48:18

I dont know my Bible History well enough, nor the Bible itself[who does], but there is something about moving things in Jerusalem which will start the chain of events for The End.

Lathyrus3 Thu 31-Jul-25 13:36:33

fancythat

The Jews are God's chosen people.

Jerusalem is God's chosen city.

We really are at End Times if things start happening to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem has been conquered and overrun many times throughout history. About half of whatChristians call he OldTestament is all about that.

Why is this conflict the End of Times🙄

fancythat Thu 31-Jul-25 13:09:19

End Israel,? it cannot go anywhere else, it is home
They will disperse to whoever will give them assylum, the choice is simple, defeat terrorism or accept terrorism rules the Middle East

They lived like that for centuries, yet are condemned for wanting/needing to be home
