How did we do?

I am really fed up with receiving emails asking for feedback after every single thing I do. I’ve just had one from Amazon asking for feedback and I’ve only just received the item, I get them from every restaurant we go to , my hairdresser, the supermarket ( Waitrose once asked me for feedback on the sandwich and banana I bought) I could go on. Does anyone ever complete these?

Occasionally, feedback from other customers, or reviews, can be most helpful, when buying clothes or shoes online, eg ‘this dress comes up large I returned it for a smaller size’ or of an appliance which breaks after first use, or recently someone helpfully reviewed kitchenware, quoting size and volume which the store had unhelpfully omitted.

Searching for a removals company, we read all reviews, mostly, the only one, glowing, so that’s obviously genuine and worthy of a slight reduction in cost.
Apparently, a clue that a review is elicited is the use of the word ‘definitely’

I have in the past begun a ‘short survey’ which is no such thing becoming increasingly personally invasive, making their market research so much easier. This MR is often a third party company. I ignore these now, b. cheek.

I do find it irritating to have reminders of appointments,
one this morning, recently made in a city an hour away,
drive to Park and Ride, bus in, ten minute walk, locate building, an expedition which needs planning, I’m not likely to forget.
I’m aware these messages are computer generated but
why do they have to be sent at 3.37am.

I’ve also realised over many years that negative feedback disappears, is not followed up, the very worst company for
this being IKEA, their Trustpilot page being lengthy, some
of the reviews/feedback so plaintive and distressed, yet, no
accountability, still they request feedback, why, who knows.

I don’t dare review the doctors’ surgery/staff/service I would
be arrested.

Hithere

Businesses cannot improve without feedback

Hithere, they don’t though! Market Research is an easy gig when the customer does all the work in a preplanned questionnaire format.
It makes not an iota of difference, as anyone on any Utilities
review site prove daily.
Or banks, building societies, any large company, the bafflement of paying customers up against corporate intransigence, the sullen obstinacy of ‘customer services’ all out there in our modern world.

Why get cross! I think it’s a good idea.
If you’re not happy, say so.
If very pleased , say so.
If neither of these, just delete.

Exactly that.

I know what you're saying!

I'll do it for important things, such as vets, medical, and even flowers/plants, and also for books, only once, but when I'm asked for feedback about a pack of napkins and a bottle of Herbal Essences, nope! Also, nope to delivery drivers, How smiley was your shop assistant today?'' and all the other stuff!

I've ordered shoes online from Shoezone and Coopers of Stortford, which I'm always delighted with, but they pester me with multiple emails wanting reviews!

Leggins, I've ordered online from Morrisons and Sainsbury's. I bought a multi-pack, then about a month later, ordered 2 more multi-packs, the exact same colour and size and was inundated with emails wanting feedback on the exact same items!

Crossstitchfan - brilliant idea!

Grammaretto Sun 14-Sept-25 10:34:27

My latest feedback comment was: the shop staff were helpful 😀

Of my 10 reviews on Trust Pilot, several were deemed helpful. I had 2 replies from the companies. One thanked me for the brilliant review. Another, a courier who was so bad I said I would never buy from anyone who used them, replied pleading with me to sort out my problem.
Perhaps they have an anger management department? 🤔

What's the point of expecting a product review the day you buy it?
What are you supposed to be judging?
The packaging?

Septimia Sun 14-Sept-25 15:14:55

I don't mind giving a score out of 10, clicking stars or a box to say that the courier was friendly or on time etc. I don't always bother, though.

I do get annoyed when they want you to practically write an essay on the subject. I've better things to do with my time.

pably15 Sun 14-Sept-25 15:47:13

there are a few companies that I have used online who have been really great, first class, I will always give them a good review on trustpilot, and there are others,,,usually certain couriers, i' ll give them the thumbs down, it lets others know what they're like.

AuntieE Mon 15-Sept-25 14:13:38

I have simply stopped answering these stupid mails and ignore the reminders as well.

I tried for a while explaining that no news is good news, but the point was not taken.

Grantanow Mon 15-Sept-25 14:25:30

I doubt feedback surveys have much effect, if any. They make people feel involved or listened to.

knspol Mon 15-Sept-25 14:34:14

I've had a couple of requests for reviews lately before I've even received the goods!

Applegran Mon 15-Sept-25 14:38:17

GN never asks for feedback! grin Great!

poppysmum Mon 15-Sept-25 14:52:59

I agree. Every time you buy something or use a service then you get the feedback email. No i rarely bother as I have better things to do.

Grandmotherto8 Mon 15-Sept-25 15:20:25

I always give feedback for Amazon, EVRI etc as the couriers are so underpaid and overworked.

missdeke Mon 15-Sept-25 15:25:56

I was asked by Trustpilot to review a stick vacuum I had bought from GTech a couple of months earlier. As I wasn't as pleased with it as I had been with previous GTech purchases I decided to complete the review. Within a couple of hours GTech phoned me and asked about my review, I explained that the new design simply wasn't suited to someone with weak wrists as the weight distribution was wrong, they immediately offered to swap it for something else that was more suited to my needs, even though I had been using it for a couple of months. Sometimes an honest review without a rant is worth the effort it takes to do the review.

grandMattie Mon 15-Sept-25 15:57:16

I find them infuriating. Apparently anything less than 5* is a failure! I buy a pound of cheese, I don’t need to say how the cheese or the assistant was!

eBay is particularly insistent on feedback. It will persist for months if none is forthcoming

grumppa Mon 15-Sept-25 16:17:36

I mostly ignore, but I do praise occasionally (did one this morning), and sometimes grumble. One grumble about a brewery-owned pub not having it's own beer available got me a £15 voucher. Another one asked me how amazing my experience had been, and I replied that I did not go to my local for an amazing experience, just a quiet pint.

Astitchintime Mon 15-Sept-25 16:22:39

I do for the GP, Physio, and hospital appointments but for anything else…..no! Amazon are a pain for asking for feedback on a purchase! Quite often on the same day as delivery too, hardly had time to open the wretched packaging before the email arrives asking me to review the contents!

Mojack26 Mon 15-Sept-25 16:39:23

Ditto just delete them!

SaxonGrace Mon 15-Sept-25 16:39:38

Having had my partner rushed off to A&E having had a heart attack last year by ambulance that is one survey I would answer they can only improve if they know the problems, I would add that despite our hospital being bottom of the latest survey he received excellent care.

Granmarderby10 Mon 15-Sept-25 17:06:28

I think that the worst type of feedback surveys are those where staff on the cash desk are encouraged to ask customers to complete in the form of a survey on their phone.

I think this idea absolutely stinks and here’s why: often if a customer does not give the maximum score but just one lower; then any subsequent comments, criticisms, opinions or compliments are not even looked at.
A meaningless waste of peoples time 😖

jocork Mon 15-Sept-25 18:31:06

valdavi

I give feedback if they offer something like a prize draw for money-off coupons.
And for tradespeople usually. Not otherwise!

I give feedback for Sainsbury and Tesco as they give points, but sometimes they do ask some pretty silly questions. Feedback for Amazon is often requested before you've had chance to try the goods!

Roxynounou Tue 16-Sept-25 10:57:50

I used to enjoy giving feedback. But as the title says I'm sick of them now. The questions are loaded so you can't really tell what you want to. I have a older lady who delivers most of my parcels. She works her socks off. I always ensure I give feedback for her. I haven't seen her lady, but I do try to avoid online shopping and I do use collect.

Witzend Tue 16-Sept-25 11:01:57

I’ve given positive feedback recently for a delivery driver, because I dare say it may benefit that person, who probably isn’t paid very much.

Usually I CBA - I just delete them.
