I know it's early to mention it, but...

I have made two Christmas wreaths but knitted them. Holly,leaves and berries, hellebores, ivy etc. At the moment I am knitting small bags for lavender. Of which I have a lot .

Or Perhaps a nice knitted red willie sock with a nice pom pom would be better

Christmas cushion covers always go down well

I got the wreath from the range, think they also have them in hobby craft.
Sadly the twins live in Singapore so no need for knitted items to wear but I’ve done a couple of toys for their sister

Last Christmas a niece learned to crochet purely to be able to make snowman faces on lovely Christmas jumpers for my Gdcs. It was a brilliant pattern - must find out where she got it.
I've started my Nativity. If I'm going to do the Advent calendar as well I have to get going. Have done all the bits for 2 shepherds but not stitched up.

I love these threads as I love knitting. I find it hard to find any baby blanket patterns cheaply all so expensive! I like to have something on the go and the girls I work with are so appreciative. Yes start knitting nativity!!

I’ve just started number 1 of 4 Christmas wreaths for my 4 families of grandchildren. I crochet in green to cover the polystyrene wreath, then crochet loads of holly leaves and berries and stitch them on. Then I knit some little things like reindeer robin Santa baubles gingerbread men candy canes with whatever I have in my stash left over from other projects.
Ps Just had a text from my overseas eldest son to say the twin boys have just been born weighing nearly 6 lb each!

I think I'll leave it until September to start - I know it's daft but it'll feel more legitimate somehow, to be doing C-word stuff once it's officially autumn and the schools have gone back. Though time really does whizz by then.

I think I started the last one around mid Sept and did have it finished by 1st Dec. - the Jean Greenhowe one is quite simple but does take time - esp. if you do the donkey, too.

No, of course not. The shops will have already ordered their Christmas things so it pays to be prepared. It's best not to leave it to the last minute. Happy knitting.

Definitely start it. I've been discussing Christmas with my children already ... where we're having it, what will the grandchildren want etc etc. Time flies by and it will be here before you know it! I'd love to be able to knit but I've always been all fingers and thumbs

I remember seeing a post about the mitred-squares blankets, Grannyknot and was tempted, they look gorgeous - but the instructions looked a bit complicated for me - I knew I'd end up undoing a lot and cussing. Alas I can't cope with anything fiddly.

I'm really enjoying knitting up my wool stash into a blanket made from mitred squares (no sewing up). I posted a pic of it on the What are you making? thread - although it's much bigger now.

Of course you're not mad. It's the right time of year to be making things for Christmas. If you're wondering what to do with your left-over wool, animal charities will welcome it to make blankets for their cats and dogs. My local vet does the same.

Gosh, I wish I lived just round the corner. I knit hats for the homeless, 4 or 5 a week and I'm always on the lookout for wool.
We have plenty of $2 shops in town and I can get two hats from one ball of 'wool', so $1 a hat is hardly breaking my budget

Probably.....but I bet the school would love to have it!
