Ladies does anyone fully understand this Pinterest site with lots of lovely knitting and crochet items? The illustration is there but when you click in I don't understand how to actually get the pattern. Some have said you have to pay for but the others sometimes have comments "How do I get this pattern?" Miserable winter days now and would do some knitting and just recently found this site so new to it. Any help would be much appreciated. Do anyone else use this site with success?

Yarnspirations is another good site for patterns, paid for and free. I love Pinterest. When we were going to New York, I put it into the search bar and lots of stuff came up about where to go, eat, what to see etc.

I havethe app but I also find that they email you daily with things of interest to you. When my dgd was little she loved pinning pictures of cute baby animals, tiaras and pink ball Gowns! It certainly occupied her. I sew and find it brilliant for ideas. It is also helpful to record places we've visited as we often have that conversation of where was that place we stopped at on the road to....

I heavily used Pinterest when I was getting married nearly 10 years ago, just for images of how I wanted flowers to look, dresses etc etc. Since then I have stopped using it, because like anything else that becomes too big, it started to become flooded with, to my mind, complete rubbish.

I now use Instagram, in fact I got most of my interior design ideas for my new home from there. The difference between that and Pinterest is that it’s very easy to find out where certain items are from on Instagram, wallpapers, tiles etc etc but with Pinterest it’s nigh on impossible to do so.

I like Pinterest for interior design ideas mainly but it's increasingly becoming full of ads.

I also like Etsy - have you tried that one?

I'm also loving the thought of Pee Interest - I'd spend all day on that sitetchgrin

I like Pinterest. I have got lots of ideas for garden, home and my current interest (wood turning) from it. Think of it as a photo scrap book.

Try this site for knitting. Excellent sales and offers always on.

Perhaps use Pinterest but don’t use glitter anymore?

Glitter is a microplastic, so it's hard to get rid of and can be hazardous to marine life and the environment.

My daughters and I share boards for things like the children’s birthdays or Christmas so we can share ideas , gift suggestions or decor ideas or recipes .

I like Pinterest and have several boards on there were I save sewing things etc. It frustrates me that I can never find out how to make these things.

Pinterest is a b** nuisance! I have "joined" by sending my e-mail address a million times, but still can never access anything on the site.

I am beginning to wonder if it only works in the US!

Another Pinterest fan here. If I am looking for inspiration for a craft, decor ideas or for something to cook, it's my first go-to.

You can also create your own pins if you are trying to sell something online.

Just recently made a Christmas Pinterest Board because my son asked me to, the idea being to pin some things I might like for Christmas. (some pretty socks pinned so far)

I love Pinterest as it’s great for ideas for all sorts of crafts. By going to the original website, I found out how to make glitter paint. A great way of using up glitter for the grandchildren. I’ve saved all sorts of stuff. As others have said it provides inspiration and a way in to new crafts.

I have a number of boards on Pinterest but then fail to revisit them ☹️
I quite like Ravelry for knitting patterns, free and paid for; I can usually find what I need on there.

I love Pinterest. I have several boards that reflect my love of art, interiors, nature etc. It provides inspiration and I like looking through my boards to see what I might have saved some time ago. Like others I can spend hours just scrolling through everything.

Usually under the photo will be a link to 'visit' the original site that posted the picture. That should bring you to a website outside of pinterest.

I love pinterest, and have several boards for inspiration.

Ravelry is the best site for knitting patterns; plus you get to see everyone's version of the same pattern.

I had no problem with Pinterest once I downloaded the app rather than find it via google.

I now search for something using the search bar, say " free crochet blanket patterns" and get loads of pictures. When I click on a picture, a new screen opens with options to save or just read. I tend to open and read first to make sure it really is what I'm looking for then I save it to one of my boards.

There is also a feature link " more like this" which leads to even more patterns.

There are times when a search result is not exactly what I want, it might be a paid pattern or just a blog but I reckon at least 80% are accurate.

Before I downloading the app, I really struggled to find anything but now I spend hours on it! I get regular emails with ideas based on recent searches which are I enjoy looking at.

Same here MamaCaz - I use Pinterest as a Pinboard for ideas -I have one for card making, one for sewing, one for painting, etc. I just save an idea or even my own photos to that board as a reminder for later. If I'm looking for inspiration I just browse. The more you use it the more it knows what you might like.

BradfordLass72 Sat 23-Nov-19 11:40:26

I long ago gave up on Pinterest, it doesn't (p)interest me to fight a site for access.

If I want a certain type of picture, I Google it and go to 'images' - much easier and a lot more choice too, not just someon else's ideas.

I also specifically exclude Pinterest when searching.

Bathsheba Fri 22-Nov-19 21:00:08

I love Pinterest. I'm almost afraid sometimes to log in, because I know once I start browsing, I can waste a couple of hours without even being aware of the time passing!

It's where I find inspiration, and make all sorts of plans for things I want to make. But then I have to shake myself, and remember that while I'm spending all this time dreaming of things I might make at some point, I could make better use of my time by sitting at my craft table and actually making something!

Marilla Fri 22-Nov-19 09:21:56

???
Can I join the club? I am also another Pinterest thicko.
Not sure how to create ‘boards’.
My daughter in law loves it. I just nod in agreement.
I’m going to try Pixabay. ?

MamaCaz Fri 22-Nov-19 09:14:57

Most of my boards are craft related, but I have one onto which I have uploaded pictures of our old narrowboats.

Anyone Googling those boats by name would find my photos on Pinterest, and I hope that sooner or later that will lead to my finding out what eventually became of them - though I am pretty certain from a photo that I found elsewhere on the internet (and added to that board) that one of them will have been scrapped by now! It had become quite a wreck in the photo. sad

If you want a window on the world you might like pixabay.com which is fully accessible and free.

rosecarmel Fri 22-Nov-19 01:26:04

Pinterest influenced US interiors- And it's sort of a shame because a lot of the decor it inspired isn't timesless, it's trendy-

And when you look at interiors on the realtor site/s the paint/color choices, inspired by by Pinterest and similar .. Oh ..

But it has its upside because it offers so much more- Its like a window into the world, a gigantic pictorial of infinite "interests"-

Ginny42 Thu 21-Nov-19 23:31:22

I lost interest in it after a few attempts. I still don't understand it's purpose really unless it's like an online scrap book, which I don't need.

Callistemon Thu 21-Nov-19 23:25:32

I'm no clearer, sorry confused
