Thank you all so much. I did find the metallic thread annoying as mine kept knotting but I persevered.

I used to make greetings cards which were sewn. I sewed directly onto the card though. Loved doing it. No time now, sadly.

That is beautiful Purplepixie and very clever too. You've inspired me to have a go at sewing some cards.

I remember those sewing cards too. Mine didn't have a needle but the cord had bootlace ends. You could unpick them and do them over and over. I still remember the feel of the cord pulling through the card. The start of a lifetime love of sewing.

Beautiful Purplepixie. Did you do anything special to the metallic threads to make them easier to sew with ? I have tried metallic threads and the fraying drove me mad. The end result was lovely. But put me off using them again.

lixy thank you for the great tip. Thank you everyone for your kind words.

Sorry if the title was misleading and you thought it was children’s sewing cards.

That's beautiful Purplepixie, I hope the recipient appreciates your hard work.
I learned the hard way that any card with a raised front needs to have some padding at the front of the envelope or it risks being torn by the postal sorting machines. I put a sheet of bubble wrap across the front o the card and that seems to do the trick.

Oh I'd love to see more, Purplepixie - this one is beautiful

I thought it would be about the childs sewing cards too.
I bought a couple for DGS a few years ago and just this year a teacher commented on his use of a needle and thread. he is 10 now so good buys.

You are really talented pixie and you certainly have an eye for colour.

You've got more patience than me, Purplepixie

I did make a cross stitch card once but it wasn't that good.

LadyGracie Tue 01-Feb-22 16:05:19

Beautiful, I'd love to receive one.b

midgey

I thought this was going to be about those cards for children where you follow the outline of a picture! Your card is very pretty.

Yes, I thought that! Do they still make them?

Lovely, Purplepixie, I hope the recipient treasures it.

That's lovely, Purplepixie, and very unusual. Do you have any more to show us? smile

I have started to embroider some cards for birthday etc. Small chain stitches using metallic thread which I discovered in The Range. Hope you like them
