My bunny - you’ll never believe what I’ve been daft enough to do now….

I was stitching on the handles (first) and then the frill last night, while also half watching the new French crime thing on BBC4 (subtitles, bad mistake) and only realised after I’d finished that I’d stitched the handles on the wrong way - they should make a big loop either side, not across the basket.

I can’t even think of unpicking all my super-secure stitching - I’d be bound to unpick some frill stitches too.

Also not very happy with the pink (sort of lilac-y pink) which I had in my stash anyway, but IMO it looks a bit wishy-washy.

I feel another coming on, in a more appealing colour….
Anyway, here it is.

Still lovely, though! I can knit, but only the very basic stitches that my Mum taught me. You are very clever!

So cute! Your bunny is even nicer than the original one.
I didn’t even notice the handles until you mentioned it,

How lovely. You’re very clever. Who would know the handles should be on the sides? Wouldn’t have occurred to me when I fought to snap it up!!!

She's lovely; you could use any pretty colour for the frill.

I've never seen anyone as talented as you Witzend. Your animals are so cute and absolutely gorgeous.
I can only do very basic stitches.
Very original.

I have lemon and baby blue in my stash, too - and plenty more of the basket colour….

Many thanks for all kind comments, I do feel slightly better about it now.

That's so pretty. I wish I could make things like that. You are clever.

Our craft group has been asked to knit Christmas toys but I think this bunny would be much loved too!

It’s lovely, very well made…I wouldn’t bother about the handles ?

Awwww, it's so cute. I love it!

Could you not just loosen one handle each side, as surely the other is in place?

Ali23 Tue 22-Feb-22 04:36:07

That’s gorgeous! I still think it works with the handles that way, Witzend.

I think it’s lovely, but you could always do the other handles too, then they have a choice which ones to use?

It’s lovely - I’m always in awe of ladies with such talent !!

They’re stitched all the way down and under, ends inside the base. So a major operation I won’t be attempting!

Witzend, so cute! I'd leave the handles that way. How about a little knitted (or ribbon) bunch of flowers (yellow and green) for a pop of colour?

Witzend,
I was just thinking that it would be fine as baby seats have the handles that way!

You are so talented I wish I could knit like that. It's knit one drop one with me. A small child would probably find the handles easier to use the way you have sewn them and balance the basket, my GD always dropped her doll out of the basket when trying to get hold of the second handle. Yours is lovely.
