Does anybody do tatting these days?

My great grandmother was a brilliant tatter (is that what they are called?) She made some beautiful things but my granny didn’t learn so didn’t pass on the skill. She taught me how to crochet though.

I used to do it. Haven’t for a while. I taught myself and also taught a daughter who just wanted to have a go. She’s good at picking up things like that (like her mum ?).

I tatted the lace for my sister-in-law’s wedding dress.

There is an unfinished piece in a drawer somewhere….

I too have done tatting. I made a few doily mats in the past and recently at my craft group we all had a go at doing tatting. Took a while but the technique did come back.

Yes! I learned tatting from my grandma. It's a great hobby.

You probably know it better as lace making.

I've taught myself a huge number of crafts in my life, and I like to think that I'm reasonably good at most of them, but tatting still stands out in my memory as the only one that I just couldn't get to grips with at all!
Maybe I would have done better if I'd had someone to teach me, rather than relying on books.
