ā€˜Nudinits’ in a shop window - a charity fund-raiser, required to cover up!

Piece in The Times the other day - did anyone else see it? (Sorry, the pic isn’t very good.)

ā€˜The five naked knits were made by members of a weekly club at the Hive Craft Cafe in Shelton Mallet, to raise money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.ā€

Figures included a policeman, a vicar, a Rastafarian, a woman wearing pearls, and a man with a beard - were positioned around a maypole wearing nothing but bells around their ankles.’

That was, until a woman complained that she did not want her grandchildren ā€œlooking at genitals on their way to schoolā€.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but my Gdcs would have found it hilarious!

Patterns came from Sarah Simi’s book ā€˜Nudinits: Bare-bottomed Fun from the Village of Woolly Bush.’ šŸ˜‚

Oh dear, someone choosing to be offended then. My three Grandchildren would have found it hilarious as well.

I love Nudinits. I follow their Facebook page. They do calendars…..I hope someone buys her one🤣

If anyone around here was doing similar for charity, I’d happily contribute!
Some years ago I did make a ā€˜cheeky bagpiper’, if anyone remembers - to raise money for Prostate Cancer. But you did have to lift his kilt up to see!

I’ve still got him. My brother made the highest bid for him - not realising that I could see who was bidding! - so I matched it and kept him. He’s on the sideboard, guarding the whisky decanter. šŸ™‚

Maybe the adverse publicity will backfire on the ā€˜killjoy’ and raise more funds!

Go a different route to school then. It's the grandparent who's offended. As other posters say, their grandchildren would find it hilarious, mine too!

I remember your bagpiper Witzend.

I remember that Witzend - some while ago now. You posted a picture of him. I’m sure anyone’s grandchildren, and probably those of the objector in Shepton Mallet, would just have a good giggle.

As others have said, knitted nudes are just a laugh for most children. Much worse are the Halloween displays some people put outside. Some years ago there was one involving lots of blood and gore in a front garden, really unpleasant and disturbing for young children walking past. Now that is something worth complaining about, but I'm not sure what you can do about a private garden.

I remember the cheeky bagpiper too.
Hope the nudinits raise lots of money.

Maybe the adverse publicity will backfire on the ā€˜killjoy’ and raise more funds!

Let’s hope so!

Sorry, just noticed the typo - it should have been Shepton Mallet of course.

What a spoil sport, no joy in their life then.

Such a lot of fuss about nothing. Little boys are obsessed with their penises and little girls will have send one on their brothers. My husband and I never covered up when the children where young.

It's body shaming on something that was done for charity.

The person who completed hasn't seen the realistic dolls on sale for child all the boy dolls has a penis and testicles.

As the woman who complained never had a grandchild follow them into the toilet and refuse to leave. And helpfully handed them a tiny bit of toilet paper. Or been asked by a 3 year old poo or wee? Or been told I am a good girl when I had finished because I have.

Some people need to get a sense of humour.
