Making a hardback cover for a leaflet

Visiting a church away from my area recently I noticed they had their service leaflets A5 paper inside a hard cover, it looked a craft job, and each had a different cover. It was rather like a folder, but somehow the leaflet was part of it, like a slim hardback book.

Anyone know how this is done?
(It wasn't appropriate to ask at the time)

Did it have elastic down the spine I wonder?
Just trying to imagine it...

I'm not quite sure what was made to hold your service leaflets .
We have two available - one in normal print and on in large print .
I must admit that a lot of page turning occurs and sometimes they get dropped onto the floor .

Why not have a Google ?
It's always inspirational .

I would ask at an appropriate time .

I think Basire if you check out journaling on the You Tube you will see lots of fabric/paper hand made book crafts.
The examples I've seen are gorgeously decorated with beautiful detailing - something to aspire to in the world of crafting for suresmile

Thank you. I realise I wasn’t very clear, I’ve been finding it difficult to describe and so difficult to Google.
Let me try again. The booklet appears to be sewn into a hardback cover. The cover varies from leaflet to leaflet and is hardback laminate appearance with what looks like acceptable looking tape around the spine A5 size.

So is it a one-use only cover? If the inner is sewn in?

Basire Sun 23-Jun-24 13:03:55

Yes. One use. It probably does a hard back sown n cover. But how is it done?smile

Is it really sewn in or just glued? There is a book making process which is similar to the system we used when I was at school to back our books with brown paper or wallpaper, but you put pieces of cardboard each side to make a stiff cover.
It's shown here www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv5KGIc_sSQ
I think it's fairly clear that this could be adapted to use a leaflet instead of plain paper.

Do you think they might have laminated it then added the cover to or? I was just thinking the laminate might have been slipped in ?

to it not or!!

Please post a photo if you can.
You can sew card/covered card.

Just still not really sure what you are after...
Sorry!

Good suggestion NotSpaghetti.
Sorry I didn’t realise photos were possible! Here you go

This looks saddle stitched to me with the outer covers made separately and then glued on.
If I wanted something like that I'd use a cotton tape over the hinge.

Here's a short (easy) video of someone saddle-stitching

Thanks for the photos. I really thought you were looking to change the "inside pages" every week. This is more permanent I think.
