The blanket sounds lovely. I do envy people who are gifted in this way.

Why not crochet the seams?

I usually crochet a neat edging around each square, then sew the squares together with the backs facing me. With a blanket, the slight increase in the overall size wouldn't matter. You could probably find a YouTube video showing how to join crochet edges invisibly. Then I give the whole blanket a damp press and leave it to dry flat, before folding once and hanging on an airer for a day or so. Good luck with it anyway.

Thank you, that sounds intriguing. I shall look it up and give it a go!

I do not mke individual squares that then need sewing together, much neater to create the same look by knitting from 2 edges of a square and then decreasing in the centre which creates a square diamond. You tube videos will explain and the end result has no joins at all, brilliant!

Thank you for these helpful tips! I shall be onto utube!

I agree, watching a good video is best unless you have a friend to sit and show you. The edges need to meet neatly. I wouldn’t recommend pressing as I think it flattens the fibres in the yarn.

YouTube is your friend here.
I could explain but the video will explain.

Try 'mattress stitch' for seams this can also be found on YouTube

How are you sewing the squares together? If you’re not familiar, do have a look at baseball stitch for knitted items on YouTube. I discovered it only recently - it’s quick and easy and gives you a nice flat seam.

The problem may disappear if you press it well when it's finished.

I am knitting a baby blanket out of knitted baby yarn squares. I am taking great care but it does seem slightly lumpy on the seams.
Does anyone have any tips?
