Best stuffing for sofa cushion

The large cushion on one of our sofas has lost its firmness and is out of shape. The existing filling is natural fibre in the shape of the cushion, I am wondering if I should remove it and start again with a firmer stuffing, possibly foam. If anybody has any recommendations of how to proceed and which stuffing to buy I would appreciate it as I have never done anything like this before.

Personally, I would take it to an upholsterer and have it done properly - they know what they're doing (no disrespect to OP capabilities intended) as it is possible to fall foul using the wrong materials and affect the fire retardant properties of the sofa.

Thank you, funnily enough I was considering doing this earlier this morning. I will see if there is anybody local who can help. You are right about my capabilities they are almost zero.

Sage and onion? Although I would prefer to stuff a turkey, a sof cushion could be a bit chewy.

DH used to do furniture restoration, he recommends a foam 'sandwich' with hard foam on the outside and a soft or medium foam on the inside.
Look for a local upholsterer or a foam company.

My son has just had his cushions re stuffed, a company on line did it and they are fire proofed.
