Apologies for mentioning the C word, but…

On the Lovecrafts site today there’s a free download of a pattern for a very simple, large, 🎄stocking, made in super-chunky on very big fat needles, so I thought one or two here might be interested.

I just received delivery of my first C present.

I’m feeling a bit smug, because purely by chance, as I’d dropped my son off to play golf, I was in a M&S at 9am yesterday, and there was a new sale, which apparently hardly anybody knew about. I bagged loads of socks, underwear and pyjamas for my family at 50% off, without fighting anybody for anything. I’ve never bought Christmas presents this early before.

I decided 2 months ago my Christmas projects. I cross stitch so they take long .

I recently started probably the 5th (I lose track) Nativity Set for the youngest Gdc to take to school for their usual 🎄raffle. Both the elder have had at least one to take, so I want her to have the same. They take forever, and I’m doing it alongside my usual Knit for Nowt stuff, so I do need to start early.

I knit sweater and cardigan as presents for friends for C along with the dog/cat blankets for Battersea.

I also knit baby things for my friends stall at C which I include some C2C crochet baby blankets. They usually get sent to her in a box at the end of November.

I just wish there had been such a simple pattern for a large stocking some years ago, when dd asked me to make some for 3 Gdcs! I had to adapt a small pattern - all the ones I found had very elaborate or complicated designs.

I shall probably make one for the Gdcs’ school 🎄raffle - in red, but with a white top. And instead of the pompom, will make one of Jean Greenhowe’s mini snowmen to hang from the top. 🙂
Shall have to order big fat needles, though, and the super chunky yarn. Just as well dh never asks why I need yet more yarn when I’ve got 2 big drawers full!

Already started last week. On holiday I hit the local charity shops and snagged

A book for DIL
2 Birthday books for DH
Three prs new very pretty socks for "somebody", which after careful consideration turns out to be moi.
A very slinky little black party dress for teen GD. I know her father will hate it and she will adore it. Kept the receipt in case of Dad-pressure; apparently Oxfam do refunds now.
Brand new black and silver leggings for GD
New pair of reading glasses, 4. 99 in Barnardoes.
