I saw this idea on YouTube. Turns out it was very simple. I have made 5 or 6 this christmas for family members.

Oh Primrose, thank goodness that you noticed before you handed it over at the till!

I watched on a facebook reel a wreath being made using a large potato as the centrepiece. Holes were made in it and greenery stuck in. The potato had a wire loop inserted at the top before the greenery was stuck in.

It looked lovely...better than how I have described it. I will try and find the site again.

I was in a posh gift shop today. I saw a wreath on the wall. Half the wreath was covered in dried flowers and greenery, the other half was bare.

I looked at the price tag and thought it said £10. Looked more carefully - £110! 😱

Love the Lego wreath.

I save metal rings. Wire on masses of garden foliage, new bows.

Thank you for the link. I think yours is lovely and I’m going to take inspiration from it.

Well, it took a bit longer than anticipated (about 2 days I reckon!) - but here, as promised, is my Lego wreath!

There is an idea for a knitting wreath out there somewhere.
It consists of various coloured balls of wool and brightly coloured Christmas baubles on a foam circle. I had it for years but never used it. My Mum made several of the ones made from fabric scraps and they were very effective.

I’ve made knitted ones, from a very easy circular pattern I found on the Lovecrafts site. One was decorated with snowmen, another with robins.
However they’re not suitable for front doors unless weatherproof - they get soggy and saggy in the rain!

This is mine, a fresh one with just a bit of prettying up.
I hung it on the door yesterday while dh was out. As always, when he returned, he made no comment. He just doesn’t notice things.

So when maybe 15 minutes later he said, ‘Oh, the wreath is nice,’ it was startling to say the least!

No😄😄 I “know” you well enough that I realised it was absolutely nothing to do with aggression😄

Sorry WWM2, That might have come over more aggressively than I intended. Should have had a grin after it.

Honestly kitty next year if you have the inclination - give it a go - you can’t go wrong!

Want to bet, WWM2?

Oooh I like that one kitty.

I am impressed by all your artistic abilities. I am the least creative person alive. Luckily our gardener runs courses and sells her own, home made ones.

I think Christmas wreaths are one of the easiest things to achieve something really satisfactory. All you really need to buy is the moss everything else can be gathered and used to creat a lovely display. I’m in the middle of doing mine. Just need to cut more holly and berries and then done.

Last years lasted until March. I took off the huge red bow and it became a winter wreath.

I’ve just watched this and it is fabulous…….thank you for sharing the link!
I have loads of scraps in my fabric stash as well as Christmas themed ribbons……..I feel a wreath making session coming on.

I have made some lego flowers but never tried a wreath. Would love to see it finished.

There will be a lot of people out there who could not afford £50 to go on a wreath making day.

I remember my Mum not being able to afford going on days like this or weekend courses. She was a WI member and apart from a couple of day trips she was never able to do anything else. It was a shame because she was a very creative person and everything she made was done beautifully. She was not deterred though and used to do her own versions at home!

Visgir1 Sun 07-Dec-25 08:38:02

Dontcallmelove.. My chum booked it, I don't have any info to give you, sorry.
Ours was £50, but for the pleasure and satisfaction of doing it yourself with good instructions by an expert florist, (she had a team of 3 other helpers - for about 20 people) with everything you need and more if you want it. I think it was well worth it.
Keep an eye out around next October for events local as they sell out quickly, we will definitely do it again.

Lovely wreaths. Here’s the one I did earlier this week.

I went to a wreath making workshop last weekend with D 1 - her treat, including a cream tea.
Didn’t ask how much - but I suspect it didn’t come cheap! Masses of foliage, decorations, berries, dried fruits and flowers, ribbons etc provided along with metal and moss rings as bases.
Our wreaths - mine’s the autumnal one, hers more sophisticated as befits her grander front door! 🤣

Beautiful wreaths but I never have a one because they remind me of the days when my dad used to put one on his grandparents grave. They brought him up.
