Hi,
I'm a grandad. I became one when my daughter had a babygirl at the age of 16.
I was quite surprised because I gave her strict instructions to fall in love, get married & have children,,,,,,,,,,,,,, in that order. I was just 44 when this event occured.
The darling grandaughter is now 20 & has no plans to repeat her mother's pattern. I have every hope that she will follow my guidelines, but I have my doubts.
Soon after 2 more came into the world & they are my treasures. TEn years passed & little EVIE joined the happy family.
I was diagnosed with PARKINSONs DISEASE 17 years ago & had the good fortune to be granted an early retirement & this has enabled me to see much more of them all over the years.
My son is 40 & has a 6 month old babygirl. My other daughter would love to start a family but have constraints on their finances atmo.
What is a Grandad for??
What is a granddad, what is he for?
Its more than just waving from nannies front door.
He’s there to admire your latest aeroplane kit
Though he was no use when you were building it.
He likes to watch you tube funnies, they’re neat
But not for long because he drops of to sleep.
He’s awake one minute and sleeping the next
He is one of the few people who still can’t text
He’s deaf as a post and misses what we say
But after consideration , we like him this way.
He hears more than we think
Enjoys a quiet drink
And we love him just as he is
