Question about fishing licences.

I wanted to buy one for a little extra Christmas present but when I try to buy on the Post Office website it only seems to allow me to buy one for the current year up to 30th March , I want one starting 1st April as he is definitely a fairweather fisherman and only fishes in the warmer weather.
Does anyone if/how I can buy one for a later date? thanks

DH says try the Environment Agency website who issue the licenses or phone them.

I would think they'd have a gift facility but I'm not sure.
