I agree that the book should be a traditional one. Winnie the Pooh is a great suggestion. Thank you.

Ahh, I remember this book now. It's lovely. Good suggestion. Thank you.

What Marmite said.
I bought 4 copies this week. One for each grandchild.
It comes as a hardback or as a board book.
Offer on Amazon got me 4 for £10 with free delivery.
The story ends with the line - love you to the moon - and back.

DGS also loves the one in Mishap' s link.

I agree with jings a good hard back. With a dedication from GG, if she's able. My brother bought his DGD a beautifully illustrated copy of bedtime stories. Sorry don't know the publisher.

I would go for a nice hardback of something like Winnie the Pooh, or Wind in the Willows. Great-granny could write a dedication in the front, and it could be treasured.

something like this

My grandson has really enjoyed this book since he was about a year old - and still gets enjoyment from it now he's 2+. It's got plenty of repetition, a tune to sway along to (or, if you're energetic, sit on the floor, clasp hands and row along to) and very sturdy board pages.

My little GD also loved this one and could not put it down. Again it is a book that will last.

These are wonderful. Acorn Wood lift-the-flap board books by Julia Donaldson - there are 4 in the series and little ones are enchanted with them and they last until they are 3 or so. Cannot recommend too highly - they are much loved by my GC.

I am very fond of 'Guess How Much I Love' you by Sam McBratney. Google it. It comes in all shapes and sizes and with accessories too!

Can anybody suggest a nice book that we could buy to our grand daughter (10 months) for Christmas from my mother-in-law (85 years old and not well). I thought that book could have a special meaning and it would always remind the baby of her great granny.
