We'd love to know what you would all love to find under your trees this Christmas? Do you always receive a pair of gloves from well-meaning relatives when really, you wish you had been given a new lippy?

So please post your answers to the following below...

"All I want for Christmas is..."

And we'll put in a good word with the big guy for you wink

No KatyK it is totally understandable. This time last year my DH was seriously ill in hospital and my priorities totally changed. All I wanted was for him to recover which he mostly has. I really hope that all goes well for your DH. flowers

KatyK Thu 27-Nov-14 14:42:44

Lapwing flowers May I just add that the best present I could have is that the radiotherapy that my DH is going through at the moment works. Sorry if that puts a downer on the thread.

Lapwing Thu 27-Nov-14 12:39:49

I bought my DH 10 crab apple trees - it was what he wanted. And for me I have just ordered a new sander because I really want to get stuck into some decorating.

Apart from that I would just wish for health and happiness for some of my family who are going through really bad times.

I made the mistake of hinting about perfume last year gillybob. I love Daisy(original) and so pointed it out to DH. He bought me the large bottle that I pointed out and also the gift set with shower gel, cream and another large bottle of perfume - because " he didn't know which I would prefer" I still have an unopened bottle in the cupboard as they are both the same confused

This year we are treating each other to tickets - John Bishop tomorrow (his) and the Foo Fighters next summer(mine)!!

Greyduster Thu 27-Nov-14 10:52:11

I would like a Loop Classic fly reel, but at £649 Father Christmas just rolled about on the floor laughing (or maybe it was hysteria!) so I'll settle for a bottle of Moulton Brown shower gel!

Galen Thu 27-Nov-14 09:17:58

Oh! And a Queens Grill round the world ticket on Cunard!

Galen Thu 27-Nov-14 09:16:43

Nothing. I don't want or need anything.
Well ok! Perhaps just anther pearl necklace? grin

Grannyactivist I hope you get both your Christmas wishes posted above. There are quite a few of us on GN trying to keep our heads above water as you put it so have some flowers from me.

What would I like for Christmas (peace on earth and goodwill to all of course) plus someone to come in and clean my house from top to bottom, windows included and all those places that I don't get round to from one year to the next. I'm not that keen on housework and don't get much time to do it. I'd rather spend my time reading or on GN grin p.s. They won't need to do the oven, I finally got round to that last weekend!

annodomini Thu 27-Nov-14 08:56:08

What an excellent solution, GA. My younger son has given me a joint birthday/Christmas present. He's taking me on a city break in Rome in January.

grannyactivist Thu 27-Nov-14 08:26:24

I need a new watch and my husband said he'd buy me one for my birthday last September. As I am allergic to nickel I need a good stainless steel band and as my eyesight isn't brilliant I wanted a large face with actual numbers on it (almost impossible to find). Yesterday I finally saw exactly what I wanted online and bought it immediately. It cost more than we would normally pay for birthdays so I sent my husband an email showing him the watch that he's bought me for my birthday/Christmas present and asking him to reimburse me the money. He's quite delighted. He'll get me a little 'surprise' gift to open on the day I expect.

Dear Santa,

I would love some Daisy Dream perfume by Marc Jacobs. I have hinted and hinted and hinted. Even dragged DH into Debenhams to show him the bottle. Might have to make do with a sneaky squirt every time I'm in town

I promise I have been very good. smile

vampirequeen Thu 27-Nov-14 00:20:11

Dear Santa,

Please can I have:

An unlimited supply of magic chocolate that causes you to loose weight rather than gain it.
A magic purse that always has £10 left in it at the end of the month.
Magic self cleaning plates, pans and cutlery.
Magic clothes that never need ironing.

OK so I'm dreaming.

I've already had a new handbag from DH. I've been looking for one I liked for ages and finally saw it last week. Rather than wait and probably find it had sold when I went back we bought it there and then.

Mum will buy me some BIG knickers even though she knows I don't wear big knickers. I think she worries that my underwear won't keep me warm enough or maybe she thinks they're unsuitable for a woman of my age grin

Actually I know I'm getting what I want for Christmas. It's our turn to have the children on Christmas Day so I'll wake up next to DH and then watch the children as they discover what Santa has brought them. Unwrapping presents is a rip fest followed by a paper fight before we tidy up. Then comes the struggle to put together toys that require a degree in engineering to construct grin. DDs and DGC will pop in during the morning for more pressie swapping. After lunch, weather permitting, we'll go for a walk in the country park then settle down for more playing and maybe some family orientated TV before tea. Finally. after the children go to bed, DH and I will watch TV/snooze together on the sofa with that lovely feeling you have when you have children sleeping in the house.

I would love to have one of the hand-made table lamps I've seen in the craft shop at the Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre. However, as I haven't told anyone this, I won't find one in my Christmas stocking!

janerowena Wed 26-Nov-14 22:58:02

I would like some new cutlery. I have had mine for ever, and MiL gave me hers which are too narrow. The handles are elegant but not easy to hold - which is why she parted with them. I can't see it happening though. I've seen some in John Lewis that I would like but by the time I have the money for it they will probably have discontinued them. I've been wanting them for about four years!

I will probably have a pair of boots, as I need some new ones. And DBH always does me a lovely stocking. He is very good at it, he takes a lot of care over it. He always buys things all in the same colour. Earrings, scarf, maybe necklace or bracelet. Then he will buy a lipstick, eyeshadow and mascara, sometimes even foundation or a new moisturiser. He goes into Boots and collars a hapless female and makes her take him shopping! Then he slips in a miniature of gin and a box of maltesers, I consume both very early in the morning because I need it to get me through the day when the GCs are with us.

I was a wreck for years trying to stop one of my Burmese from escaping. He once got out of a loft window and my ex had to climb on the roof to get him. He did have a special outside cat pen but didn't want to use it. Another one of mine ate plastic bags shock. They also, if they are allowed outide, have a habit of getting into peoples cars and turn up miles away [if they do turn up, that is]. But, when they're adorable they're adorable beyond belief. The best one I ever had [Nellie] slipped outside one night and was killed by a car an hour or so later sad. When I first brought her home I couldn't believe how intelligent she was. She lay in my arms and I watched her look around the room, taking in everything; can still picture it now sad. She was wonderful.

rosesarered Wed 26-Nov-14 22:31:25

I would like some silver ear rings I have seen locally [very unusual and pretty, and made by a local silversmith.]Have dropped lots of hints in DH's hearing.I would also like a couple of books.

rosesarered Wed 26-Nov-14 22:29:05

Not souse I meant house cat!

rosesarered Wed 26-Nov-14 22:27:56

Don't get a Burmese Micelf my DD has one and it's completely bonkers. It's a house cat [it's own choice] and it eats anything, including a sheepskin rug [had to have an expensive op at the vets to remove a big ball of it from it's tum.]It's destructive, clingy and needy and is like having a dog but without the advantages of a dog.Even DD regrets buying it! Get a normal moggy from a cat shelter.

Pittcity Wed 26-Nov-14 21:57:18

Can you send your decorator here when you've finished with them MiceElf? I'd like all the jobs that we never get round to done!

Tegan Wed 26-Nov-14 20:35:26

Mine could open doors and was a wool eater. In my experience they have very little road sense [well, none in fact] so they have to be 'house cats'. Much as I adored mine I'd never have one again. They also climb up curtains and leap at you [even if you've got no clothes on; ouch!].

Brendawymms Wed 26-Nov-14 20:31:37

I've had several Burmese cats Miceelf and they have a very strong and very vocal personality. They are almost like a dog. One of mine, Charlotte was her name, had to be locked out of a room if prawns were around as she would steal then as they went towards your mouth.

MiceElf Wed 26-Nov-14 19:34:34

I should really really like a Burmese kitten.

And someone to do 100 hours work in the garden

And someone to redecorate the hall

And someone to take a pattern of my favourite skirt. I can follow a pattern but I can't take one from an existing garment.

KatyK Wed 26-Nov-14 19:20:16

Nothing I want either. Glad it's not just me. I will be pleased with whatever I get but I can't think of anything to ask for!

grannyactivist Wed 26-Nov-14 19:03:07

All I want for Christmas (Duh!)

papaoscar Wed 26-Nov-14 19:02:42

I would say go Apple, Shysal, and opt for a new or second-hand Ipad2 or Mini, in the sales or from an Apple shop. Fantastically easy to use, Rolls-Royce performance, very safe and cheaper than most lap-tops. The lack of a USB port and need for WiFi printing can be easily overcome. All the good things you read about Apple stuff I have found to be true. I would not want to go back to Windows.
