I heard the song on the radio today, and remembered that there was some fuss made in certain quarters about the fact that Roger Daltrey deliberately stammered while singing the lyrics.
I can't remember what The Who's explanation for it was...
50 years? Blimey. It only seems five minutes since my me and my friends were desperately trying to get a boyfriend who had a scooter and wore a Parka. Was never keen on The Who though (I was too wrapped up in the Beatles) but can appreciate their music more now.
I saw them in Abu Dhabi last year, wow, what a fabulous show, they certainly had everyone 'talking about their generation'. They sounded and rocked the stage equally as good as they did 50years ago.
I love it but can't believe it is 50 years old. I was sure it was a song written for "my" generation but I'm only 53 ! I must have listened to it in the womb although can't imagine my mum listening to The Who
