Hygena QA oven.

My DD and family recently moved into a rented flat. The problem she is having is with the oven in the kitchen. It is a Hygena QA oven, white, very basic, with only one knob. The element is at the top like a grill, and that seems to be all! Do any of you have any past experience of this type of oven? Is there a way to heat it other than with what seems to me to be the grill? She is having difficulty cooking proper meals, and baking in it. I know it's probably a long shot but I have tried to find a manual online without success. Thank you all.
