Hi Ruby. If you do a bit of research on the internet to see which companies make the type of vehicle that you need you can make an appointment at the appropriate local dealer who will chat you through it all. If it is a larger dealer/chain they sometimes have a vehicle that can be brought over so that you can have a really good look at it and even load your scooter on. One of my friend's DH had one of these that he could drive his scooter in to but I know nothing more, sorry. Motability themselves will chat you through all this stuff though.
Don't have a scooter myself as I am not sure I could manage one.
