My heart absolutely bleeds for his parents, but I can't help thinking it's time to let him die in peace..

Anniebach Sun 23-Jul-17 08:56:52

The complaint was made Saturday and the court hearing is Monday so little time for the police to do anything . It should come to an end this week, I think the judge will rule in favour of the hospital and they need to withdraw treatment quickly.

Every newspaper will want to sign up the parents for their story and possibly the TVs companies will make programmes about the rights and wrongs.

Nelliemoser Sun 23-Jul-17 00:11:07

Social media makes this trolling behaviour much easier these days, at one time poison pen letters were about all you could do.
Now we have instant spitefullnes at the touch of a computer keyboard and people who write nasty tweets. It does not take much.
What an awful world we seem to be in these days. sad angry

Eloethan Sun 23-Jul-17 00:08:49

It's a pity these people throwing threats around don't go and work in a hospital and do something useful. They see a few snippets of news in a newspaper or on the telly and think they know everything.

paddyann Sat 22-Jul-17 23:51:07

sadly death threats are commonplace nowadays, there's a special mantality of people who if they disagree with someone wishes them dead or their family .It has happened here regularly to politicians even Alex SalmondS old dad who was in his nineties and a war hero was targetted. We need to catch some of these nutters and make an example of them otherwise we'll end up like the USA ,doctors being shot outside abortion clinics because some "pro lifers" dont agree with what they do .Anyone who is threatening doctors or staff at GOSH should be brought to book quickly and a stop put to this abhorrent behaviour .These people staff and parents dont need the added stress of threats

Jalima1108 Sat 22-Jul-17 22:27:30

Oh dear, it has just been on the main BBC news about the staff at GOSH being threatened and abused even in the street and they have had to call in the police.

This is just shocking.
sad

Lazigirl Sat 22-Jul-17 21:18:57

GOSH is a world renowned hospital and it is dreadful that the staff caring for many very sick children are subjected to the reported on line abuse. Parents of other children who are being treated are also obviously affected. The media bandwagon is attracting many with ulterior motives with little expertise to offer. The parents are caught up in a nightmare which no one would wish on them in such a situation.

My cousin was born with a life-limiting condition. His parents, my aunt and uncle, both doctors, took him home and cared for him 24/7. That was the easy part. Accepting the inevitable and letting him go was far, far harder.
It must be so difficult for all those involved with the CG case, so I agree with others who say it isn't helpful for anyone else -politicians, media - to express opinions or interfere.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jul-17 20:04:53

No annsixty, just saying these death threats and abuse are posted daily, it is not the fault of the baby or the parents, I hope they find the guilty and they are punished.

annsixty Sat 22-Jul-17 19:55:22

Are you playing them down then Annie it is so troubling that a baby's condition has led to this.
The press and the followers of the parents have a lot to answer for.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jul-17 19:32:04

Death threats are so common now , politicians, political reporters on TV, actors, no one is immune from them,

whitewave Sat 22-Jul-17 19:25:31

That is why it should never be made public. There is so much ignorance around it is appalling.

gillybob Sat 22-Jul-17 19:23:13

I just heard that on the radio news Tegan shocking isn't it ?

Tegan2 Sat 22-Jul-17 19:17:48

It just said on the news that staff at the hospital have received death threats sad.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jul-17 13:03:54

Just shows how the press do not always print facts accurately ? , the press, the pope, Trump, the supporters and us on GN have voiced opinions , but the parents had made the decision before the media frenzy .

I have experienced 'denial' only for a very short time but it was hell , I ache for these parents.

whitewave Sat 22-Jul-17 12:50:13

Oh I read it this morning in the Guardian - I must take them to taskgrin

No what the article is saying is that there are too many people basing their opinion on ignorance instead of listening to the experts.

I heartily concur with that. I think it should have been entirely private without the world interfering for all sorts of agendas and reasons. Not entirely in the babies favour or interests.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jul-17 12:04:47

Not accurate sorry whitewave, the hospital told the parents, the parents looked for information on this condition, read there was hope of their child being helped so decided to take him to America. Launched an appeal and raised over one million, the hospital then went to court to stop the parents taking the child from the hospital, the parents fought back, it was only then the Pope and Trump stepped up as you choose to put it.

paddyann Sat 22-Jul-17 11:53:44

the parents will eventually reach the same conclusion as GOSH ,but they must be allowed to reach it in their own time.IF this had all been done behind closed doors it would have been better for them but a decision will have to be made and it can only be done by them. For THEIR future ,otherwise they will feel they didn't do enough to save him.The guilt of that will cripple them for years to come.So we should all step away from it and leave them to the most difficult thing they will ever have to do .Those who believe in prayer should pray for them and the rest of us think of them and be thankful we dont face the same journey thhey do

BlueBelle Sat 22-Jul-17 11:41:13

The only person who knows nothing of all this surrounding mayhem is thankfully Charlie
I too worry about the mother s mental health well dad too but she seems and looks very vulnerable
There are no answers are there? I would want complete annonimity and privacy myself and maybe the law should be changed to that.., its done for other things

whitewave Sat 22-Jul-17 11:30:22

I have been reading an article this morning with which I heartily concur.

Basically it is this:-

GOSH has advised the babies parents as to their opinion as to the babies quality of life - poor and prognosis - worse.

Up steps all sorts of people, from the pope to Trump, to the man in the street. Who insist through various means like petions that they know better than GOSH.

This mood defies facts over feeling, and insists that any opinion is worth as much as that of an expert.

We can see this in all areas of our life, where experts are told they are wrong, and we know better because opinion matter. it is sad.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jul-17 10:32:55

I have no doubt that the hospital is doing what they think is best for the baby , I have no doubt the parents are doing what they think will help their baby , this is why I remain neutral in this .

Parents make the wrong decisions at times, yet the doctors who examined baby P certaintly made the wrong decisions.

I have forgotten the town where a court ordered children be taken from their parents because of sexual abuse , covens etc , perhaps someone will know?

trisher Sat 22-Jul-17 10:21:08

BlueBelle the doctors could not release Charlie if they felt it was not in his best interests. Their concerns all along have been that he may be suffering and they do not know how much pain he experiences. That is why the matter came to court. I have no doubt that everyone at GOSH will have done their best to find a way that they could accommodate the parents' wishes without causing any more distress and pain to the baby.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jul-17 10:16:49

This child's life seems to belong to the parents, the hospital, lawyers, the judge ,

whitewave Sat 22-Jul-17 10:11:27

iam here here!! Children are the innocents in all this. Their lives are their own and absolutely nobody else's.

Baggs Sat 22-Jul-17 10:05:51

Good post, iam.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jul-17 09:46:40

Did everyone one know the results of the scan Bluebell? The supporters are irelevent the parents are not
