Potatoes

Marfoni potatoes are my choice, although I don't think they are available everywhere. I had never heard of them before I came to live in the Midlands. I am without this winter as my usual farmshop haven't got them, apparently the farm had a problem with the crop and I haven't seen them for sale anywhere else recently.

Saxon makes a lovely jacket potato. I hunt them down especially for baking.

I buy Maris Piper in Asda.
King Edwards are a good all rounder, I used to like Desiree but they don't appear often and the last ones I bought were different to how they were years ago.

Thank you, I have tried Maris piper, I am not sure if the ones I have had previously are either Egyptian or Cyprus cannot seem to find them in shops .

Another fan of Maris Pipers. We don’t seem to see King Edwards. And yes, Momb, baked sweet potatoes are very nice ??.

I like baked sweet potatoes best.

Sainsbury's Vivaldi baking potatoes are excellent, they don't really need butter.

I love Maris Pipers, I only ever buy those, unless I'm buying new potatoes. I find they are good for everything, roast, baked, mash. I think baked potatoes need something to enhance them whether it's butter, grated cheese or something else.

To my mind, the difference is using organic potatoes. They have so much less water in them.

Surely the point of baked potatoes is to have lashings of butter!

Always use a king Edwards for baked potatoes when I can get hold of them, good substitute is a Maris piper, fancy one for lunch now ?

In my opinion all baked potatoes need lashings of butter, as do mashed.

I find Maris Pipers good.
