According to Rightmove it's the happiest place to live in the UK! I've never been but it looks very nice smile

Happy

It is,I live there ! We have the olde worlde seaside part with cockle sheds, fishing boats and pubs. The town with mostly individual shops and eateries and the outskirts not too far away where I live :-)

Oh don't please! - how I miss it. I lived near there as a child and used to bike to the cockle sheds all summer.

Luckygirl Thu 29-Nov-18 18:52:46

And I live a stone's throw from another one that features as happiest!

MissAdventure Thu 29-Nov-18 18:54:27

I live close, and have had some lovely times poodling around the pubs, cocklesheds and beaches there.
Its lovely to sit outside on a summer evening and watch the world go by.

I live the next station up, it has lots of character, independent shops, lots of nice restaurants. As well as “Old Leigh” next to the sea lots of seafood. I can walk from where I live to Leigh along the Estuary a lovely way to spend a morning ??

MissAdventure Thu 29-Nov-18 18:59:26

I work in the next station up to Leigh, and live in the next station down. smile
Small world.

Mind you, it depends on what you class as up or down from Leigh, I suppose.

awww Luckygirl, would you be unable to move back ? I have a friend whose family were cocklers , so much history there.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-Nov-18 19:04:54

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-Nov-18 19:05:45

Miss A do you work in Benfleet?

MissAdventure Thu 29-Nov-18 19:09:39

That's where I catch my train from, yes.

MissAdventure Thu 29-Nov-18 19:11:23

Oh yes, I did read about the meet up, and was very interested, but I'm working full time and it seems to take up so much time!!
I'm sure I will make it to a meet up at some point though.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-Nov-18 19:11:30

Miss A I will pm you

MissAdventure Thu 29-Nov-18 19:23:53

Lovely, thanks!

seaside envy

We could have moved near there years ago but decided not to as the move may not have been permanent.
Sometimes I wish we had.

MissAdventure Thu 29-Nov-18 19:53:59

I've just realised; I'm the round shouldered shadow in the pic! grin

I know Leigh well, used to live near there, and we would go to a restaurant called Oscars, anyone remember that?
Old Leigh is now very fashionable.

MissAdventure Thu 29-Nov-18 21:44:26

Oh yes, I remember Oscars.
I never went there, but I know it was very popular.

Flaxseed Thu 29-Nov-18 22:05:57

I remember Oscars! although Leigh is around 20 miles from me.
I am going for afternoon tea at Mad Dogs and Englishmen in December. It looks very nice smile
Anyone been there?

Sar53 Thu 29-Nov-18 23:38:32

Flaxseed we went there for afternoon tea just before my OH's daughter had her twins, about 20 months ago. A baby shower that wasn't, no presents but just all her friends and all the ladies in the family celebrating the big event due in a few weeks. We had a lovely afternoon. I hope you enjoy yourselves.
I also live just along the coast from Leigh. The old town is very pretty but gets incredibly busy in the summer.
