Do you make them (then break them?). One of my best ever was ‘Must Read More Books’. That one was a joy to keep!

Ha, love it Maggiemaybe!

Probably a week on Monday, unless anyone wants to take a box of only slightly used fancy cheeses, half a Christmas cake and an oversized box of Dairy Box off my hands?

I’m a long-standing 5:2er, Urmstongran, and it really works for me. I must say it doesn’t suit everyone though - my DD1 gave up on it after a week, as fasting made her feel light-headed. I’d like to see MM in action, but I’ve just checked out when he appears round here and it’s on the one weekend this year we’ve already booked to go away.

I haven’t started my exercise snacking yet. I reckon 2019 doesn’t start properly until all the leftovers are gone. grin

I’ve decided to do Michael Mosley’s 5:2 diet Maggiemaybe and to kick start it I’ve decided to do a dry February! January is too hard core ha! Also as an added incentive I booked tickets on line yesterday to attend an evening with Michael Mosley at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on 15 February in the hope he will inspire me further!

I decided that if Orlando Bloom asked me to marry him, I'd refuse and I'm quite adamant, shan't go back on it whatever he says.

Never bothered to make one for years but this year

Get to size 10/12. Walk outdoors and ride out on Fred.

The only NY resolution I've ever kept is one I made 30+ years ago and that was, quite simply, never to make any further new year resolutions.

The usual... to lose weight (I can do that bit), but to keep it off this time.

To exercise more (I go to Zumba 3 or 4 nights a week, but need to do something else too)

One I CAN keep.... to not spend any time with people I don't particularly like. Being with negative or selfish people is detrimental to my health, in the long run. this year it has been my husband's difficult, attention-seeking sister.

I always make tesolutions and rarely keep them. sad Last year’s was to write a book and it’s not even started, even though I’ve had loads of spare time.

I did do the “walking 1,000 mile challenge” a couple of years ago after reading about it on GN, and I’m joining TerriBull’s “read 50 books” thread this year to encourage me to do just that. I’m pretty sure I will.

My other resolution will be to do the Michael Mosley 9 minute exercise snacking routine twice a day, but I’m not as confident that I’ll persevere with that. I’m such a lightweight.

Mapleleaf Fri 28-Dec-18 14:28:55

I don't make any.

travelsafar Thu 27-Dec-18 07:52:13

Mine is to start exercising again.I had to stop everything too vigorous due to a problem with my spine, now that has been resolved i want to get started again. But i am only going to do the warm up and cool down part of a DVD which i have as the middle part will be pushing it a bit and i do not want ot undo all the good work done.I had a year of agony and NO WAY do i want that back in my life.

I’ve decided not to be so hard on myself. Remnants of a Catholic upbringing die hard. If I want to stay in bed till 9.00am I will and not feel guilty. If I prefer to knock about in jeans that’s up to me and no one else. If the front garden needs weeding and I don’t feel like doing it then let nature take over. I won’t return that phone call from my co-grandparent because she moans and drones on and bitches about her daughter (my DiL) and I can’t stand the woman anyway.

In other words I’m going to chill and please myself more.

Jane10 Thu 27-Dec-18 06:39:07

Not quite!

Chewbacca Thu 27-Dec-18 00:14:26

Is it as bad as this Jane10? smile

Tartlet Thu 27-Dec-18 00:07:57

I’m smiling at my visual image of your car. smile

Jane10 Wed 26-Dec-18 20:36:12

I don't usually make a new year's resolution but, this time, I want to officially note it here. This year I will take my car to the car wash. I can't do it myself as we're in a 4th floor flat so not feasible to trail up and down with water etc. The poor car hadn't been washed for 3 years blush. It's sort of crept up on me and now there's moss growing along the window sills and a weed growing from the leaves collected in the air intake.
Please give me a hard time of this and feel free to nag.

Do not bother at New Year. Make them in September which feels far more like the start of a new season than the New Year.

oldbatty Wed 26-Dec-18 20:09:40

Sorry but its true. See the Infiltration thread. Sad.

Urmstongran Wed 26-Dec-18 20:08:49

What? How do you know? And wouldn’t the moderators stop him? I’m shocked to be honest.

oldbatty Wed 26-Dec-18 19:36:50

Not at all, lots of lovely people here. Sadly 2 or 3 less lovely, spinning yarns and causing mischief. Very sad when there is no trust.

Why would a 30 something male use this site for example?

Urmstongran Wed 26-Dec-18 19:32:07

That was a very mysterious resolution oldbatty! Has someone on here offended or upset you?

allsortsofbags Wed 26-Dec-18 19:13:50

We don't make resolutions, OH and I have never been able to keep any of our past resolutions so we no longer bother.

We are more of a look back and be grateful kind of household these days.

We don't always "Do Anything" on New Years Eve but we do make time to remember absent friends.

Whatever you do, wherever you will be I hope you all have a good New Year when it gets here.

Tartlet Wed 26-Dec-18 19:10:00

What do you mean oldbatty?

oldbatty Wed 26-Dec-18 18:09:57

Not to waste time here as it isn't a safe place, sadly
