Please could someone tell me when the decorations should be taken down?

So, which is it, the 5th or 6th?

And, should they be taken down ON that day, or the day before? tchconfused

Traditionally it's the 12th night, (twelve nights after Christmas i.e. 6th Jan).
However, as our DC and DGC drove down the drive this morning, DH was already attaching the tree, which is now languishing in the back garden.
I do love the Christmas decorations, but I love it when they come down too!
