You could clean the brass on a horse's harness with it, as well as a military belt.

J52 I was going to say that. My father had a button stick (see pic) for polishing buttons too. This thing could be for polishing a bigger buckle? You would thread the webbing belt through the hole, leaving the brass buckle on the outside, then the Brasso wouldn't mark the webbing.

DHs grandma had something similar. It was for putting military uniform brass buttons through when polishing them so polish didn’t go on the uniform.

I have asked someone who is pretty knowledgeable about antiques and such like, he has no idea.

For info, it is about 22.5 cm (9" ) across the bottom, and about 17cm (7" )high, not including the handle.

Could be part of a horse's harness ? Brass.

Could it be part of a buckle?

I think there is some way of searching Google with a photo, perhaps someone can tell you how?

Is that square straight bit a blade, or sharp in any way ?
