The Market Tea Room?

All good suggestions, I like Love Cake or something to do with cake, if homemade cake is going to be your "pull" for customers.
Your main aim is getting customers in the cafe and then build up a regular customs with your delicious, irresistible cakes.
Mmmmm! I would be a customer! I love cake!

Such good suggestions! What about:

Firstly and lastly. (Suggesting tea, and cake smile plus a nod to the organisations).

Good luck with your venture.

I like Sweet Charity. ( Is ‘ Charitea’ too much?)

What about a name using either Auntie or Granny/ Nana?

There used to be one on Glasgow called Auntie M’s, and would, say, Granny * name*’s , make people think of tea and home made cake?

I wish I could bake for you. I used to do several Morning and Afternoon Teas for charities every year and they were very popular and I loved baking.

Sweet Charity

Hidden Goodies
Secret Cakes - these two because they don't know, until they ask, what the hidden secret or 'goodie' is - your charitable donations.

Cake Dreams

I wouldn't use Forget-me-not, cute though it is, in case it caused distress. Didn't it used to be the Alzheimer's logo at one time?

It needs to be a name which will tempt people to come in and enjoy your food. Or make them curious about the name (and they'll come in and ask)
Once inside they could be told, via posters and flyers, where the profits will go.

Caring, Cake & Coffee
You're Sweet Helping
Generous Helpings
Have your cake and eat it
Pay it Forward in Cake

I'll think of more once I've had a cuppa tea.....

Life saver?
Second chance.
Tea 4 two (a local favourite for us)
I hope you come up with a good name. Well done to you both. I hope the cafe is a success. It's hard work.

Tea for Two

pensionpat Thu 17-Jan-19 00:05:38

For a few years I have raised funds for our local First Responders. I have a friend who raises funds for Alzheimer’s. This year we are joining forces and taking over the run-down cafe in our indoor market. Is hasn’t been open for a few months and we shall transform the current grubby greasy spoon into a pretty tea room. We shall bake our cakes on the premises. And profits will be shared equally between our 2charities.

We are stuck about the name. I suggested 50-50, representing the share between both charities, but there is a local firm using that name. My friend has suggested Forget-me-not. This is a witty, appropriate name if the tea room were for Alzheimer’s solely. So we shall be having a frank discussion about that.

I don’t feel fully equipped to argue my case without an alternative name, so I appeal to Gransnet members to help me out.

I don’t want the word cafe in the title. This smacks of the poor reputation of the previous cafe.

All suggestions gladly received. Thank you.
