Travel insurance.

Floradora. I think it helped that it is 6 years since his last stroke( he has had 4) but his other conditions are many and various. Hence the £900 for two weeks in Canada I mentioned. I am fortunate in not having anything to declare, so perhaps that helped too.
Grannyticktock, that is worth knowing. A friend had a successful op for bowel cancer and mere mention of the C word caused her insurance to rocket unaffordably.

Like chelseababy my travel insurance company asks no medical questions; you just have to be fit and well to travel. I have it as late DH was a retired civil servant on civil service pension, and it was a godsend to us both.

We had the same NW account and it was a godsend. OH had cancer with extensive secondary spread, and many companies had quoted ludicrous amounts. NW's insurers asked about his illness but their main criterion seemed to be how many medications he was taking. They eventually insured the two of us (worldwide, for a year!) for an extra £80 on top of the monthly bank fee. We had three or four holidays on the strength of it, with no problems.

Purpledaffodil you did well to get it for that price we have the same account and pay over two hundred excess .

Tried to get a specialist travel insurance cover for DH and was quoted£900 for 2 weeks in Canada. Instead I changed our bank account to Nationwide and get world wide travel insurance for us both, mobile phone insurance and RAC type breakdown insurance. We pay £13 a month for all this plus a top up of £40 for his many declared health problems.

Have since had another two week holiday in the USA so we are well in profit. ?

Any chance you're already covered by eg bank account? DH has this and updates them each year about our various conditions.

I've used " Direct Travel Insurance" this year. I found them on a comparison site and they are a lot cheaper than my previous insurance. I have hypertension and ms.

If you're a member of a pension scheme NFOP cover all conditions as long as fit to travel - no medical questionnaire. They have recently introduced a waiting period. It's about £300pa for a couple.

Our travel insurance isn’t due for renewal yet, but I recently read an article, not sure if it was in the Times or maybe Moneysavingexpert, which mentioned a site called medicaltravelcompared.co.uk. I have no idea if it’s useful and I certainly don’t have any connection with it.

We have just bought our yearly travel insurance using this search engine. DH has hypertension and I'm a new diabetic and hypertensive. Prices started at only £166!!! Much better than the well over £400 quotes I'd found.
