It's a glorious sunny day sunshine and I'm off to the hairdresser for some badly needed maintenance. I really do look a mess but hoping to return looking and feeling lovely! smile

Awoke just after six on hearing my DGS, who is nearly four and lives over 200 miles away, call out, “Grandma!” He stayed over for the first time, enabling DS to enjoy a special night out with my ex DH, at a Rotary 'do' involving a football celeb. We enjoyed some precious time together for a few hours before he was collected. He was as good as gold and fascinated by the fact that I have no stairs in my flat!
Later I attended my “Move It Or Lose It” class which I love. We are so lucky to have an inspirational lady running this - I’m always sad when it’s over!

I was thinking St Martin in the Caribbean - and a bit confused about a crusty cob and Cornish butter grin

I've been maintained - cut, roots, wash & blowdry, eyebrow wax, and pedicure so whilst not quite beach-ready am looking, and feeling, much improved! smile

Pottered about this morning, sorting out the last of the laundry and making lunch. Having a quiet afternoon with, perhaps, a nap. I'm off out tonight though, taking DD and DGD to the swimming pool for kayaking lessons. DGD wants to do sports leadership as a career, she's a very focussed 13 year old!

Yes we are! Met our new baby grandson this morning, (born late last night), lots of lovely cuddles. Seeing him again in a few hours when we collect his 'big' sister from school and she gets to see him for the first time. smile

Sitting in car reading paper by the Solent whilst today’s grandchild is having a sleep in the back!

I am reading, and listening to dear old Leonard Cohen. I know people say he is miserable but I find him very comforting.

St Martins....! Ooh, Scilly is one of my favourite places. The peace is so beautiful.

ArtySue Fri 13-Mar-20 13:06:57

Just picked up my 4 year old granddaughter from pre-school and we're now watching CBeebies and eating Cornish pasties. After this the request is: 'Please can we blow up your inflatable bed Nana and can I climb on it?' So sweet, what amuses a 4-year-old.

GabriellaG54 Fri 13-Mar-20 12:57:43

Correction...Lower town

GabriellaG54 Fri 13-Mar-20 12:57:16

I'm in Lowtown on St Martins right now, sitting by the quay with coffee and a crusty cob with Cornish butter and cheese. Life is satisfyingly good.
Later I will run right round the island for the second time today and chat to all I meet...which is not many as only about 100 people actually live here off season. I might see if there's a boat going to any of the other islands.
It's pleasing to have relative silence here and low to no expectations from others as one would on the mainland regarding plans or anything else.
No scrums in the shops either. ?

In Crete and the sun is shining and the sky is blue. Just had a lovely 6km walk round ancient ruins, gazing at the blue sea and fields full of wild poppies, anemones. Only heard the bees and the birds and a few sheep and goats. One of those perfect days to remember!

Missfoodlove Fri 13-Mar-20 12:48:48

Spring cleaning, dog walking, mammogram then home to cook as we have friends for supper.

SalsaQueen Fri 13-Mar-20 12:26:26

I've been to work (2 part-time jobs) and this afternoon I really need to do some ironing.

The Grandchildren will be here at teatime, so I'll cook something for us all, and they'll stay here the night, so we'll probably watch a film of their choice before they go to bed smile

Pantglas2 Fri 13-Mar-20 12:24:26

Had a lovely morning pottering in the kitchen (my go-to feel good place when I’m ‘unsettled’) making curried cauliflower soup for lunch and a cauldron of curry sauce to be portioned and frozen for nother time. Kitchen smells like our local Indian restaurant- DH is dribbling contemplating lunch!

I have a couple of dozen books to read, even more xwords, knitting to finish, a long list of Netflix series to finish/start so a whole weeks worth of something nice for me!

Just out of hospital and still sore. Debating whether to go to a family party tonight. Will decide later. Meanwhile resting and trying to keep warm.

rockgran Fri 13-Mar-20 12:19:37

Sorry, Charleygirl5 - I didn't enjoy it that much!grin

Urmstongran Fri 13-Mar-20 12:09:21

Just chilling and reading in the sunshine on our little balcony here in the ?

Deciding whether to make a pasta dish for supper tonight or go out to eat. I think the pasta might win.

I loved the ceanothus we used to have EV when we had a garden (10y ago now). The bees love them too! ?

Charleygirl5 Fri 13-Mar-20 11:56:51

Fancy a trip here rockgran?!

rockgran Fri 13-Mar-20 11:54:07

Washed the windows - and actually enjoyed it!

Charleygirl5 Fri 13-Mar-20 11:52:13

I intend to click and collect prescription cat food I bought online. What I should do is to start decluttering this house. What I will do is make myself some coffee and listen to my talking newspaper. Tonight, spag bol and I will open a bottle of red as I settle down to watch Vera for a couple of hours. Hopefully my cat will come home at a sensible hour. Nothing too taxing for brain or body.

Packing up, going home, after looking after DGSs for 8 days - Phew.

I know I’m daft but I gave them both a really big hug before they went into school in case the dreaded lurgy gets me.

So looking fwd to getting back to our own home and hunkering down, plus sleeping and not being woken at 6.20 by youngest asking where I have put his Lego models ?

boheminan Fri 13-Mar-20 11:48:25

Have spent far too much time on GN today BUT I will make some bread in a while - well, when I've finished re-reading new popping up threads smile

Lizbethann55 Fri 13-Mar-20 11:43:09

Done some washing and cleaning. As I hate cleaning and my fortnightly cleaner was here on Monday that is really really impressive. Just had a coffee and am catching up here. It's my day off work. DH is in the next room working from home so I will chill out, be lazy, read and watch day time tele. Bargain Hunt, the news and then Escape to the Country. Had hoped to go to Aldi but I don't drive and DH has a lot to do, so will leave him a list and he can go tomorrow when I am at work. Friday chippy tea so don't even have to cook!

grannysyb Fri 13-Mar-20 11:35:38

Have changed bed, had friend for coffee, now to make soup for lunch. Going to DGDs birthday meal tonight at a Japanese restaurant, he is 18 today! Where did those years go?

faye17 Fri 13-Mar-20 11:21:02

I decided to remove the red vinyl coating on my kitchen cabinets & am now enjoying priming & painting the doors ivory - it is so fresh & is giving me a much-needed very positive feeling flowers
