Has anyone tried putting two single mattresses side by side on a super king base? Having a bit of a headache solving issues around differing preferences for mattress softness. I know you can get large mattresses with a soft side and a firmer side, but wondered if two single ones would work.

I think it would work, especiallly if you buy a mattress topper so you won`t feel the crease.

We did this comparatively successfully many years ago but you have to really deal with the raised joint seams down the middle or can be really uncomfortable. Think we glued a foam strip which did the trick nicely.

I thought about doing this but wondered if the mattresses might slip as we have a divan. Maybe if the base has an inset bit it would work.

Just buy zip and link mattresses.

I have a 6’ zip & link mattress on my bed. In a spare room I have 2 single beds pushed together with a redundant double duvet covering both mattresses then a thick mattress protector on top which keeps everything together. One is firmer than the other and no, you can’t feel the join. Have done this for years and if necessary can use as twins.

Zip and link doesthe job perfectly. Douvet each , we like different weights .
