I know someone close who had hair transplants. The hair was taken from the back and placed at the front, creating a new hairline. They became very swollen in the face and had two black eyes, but the hair has been growing nicely (albeit slowly) and they are pleased with the result. Aside from the pain, the expenses are ongoing and specialist products will always be needed. They look great, but it takes months for the results to look 'normal'. He does look great though, and feels much more confident. Of course, there's the thin patch at the back but it's not too bad. I'm not sure it's the same procedure you're considering, but it gives you an idea and hope it is helpful.
