Morning sickness

Felt sick with all of mine, but I used to wear anti sickness wrist bands, wasn’t actually sick but the feeling went on and on, really hope it stops for her very soon

I had morning sickness with two pregnancies, children born - girl , boy , girl in that order. Only sick with the girls ! Fortunately I did not have the very severe form of it. However it is very unpleasant, getting to work before being sick was not easy! Not much to say that can help , just have to ride it out ! Hopefully it will pass for your daughter and she can bring work and enjoy her pregnancy.

Yes, had three goes with HG sadly!

I had ondansetron each time. I tolerated it orally except when it was really bad, then I went into hospital to get it IV.

I was unable to tolerate any food and very little fluids without it, so I really did need it to keep going. It’s worth seeing the hospital maternity team if she can: the GP is unlikely to be willing to take the risk of prescribing it (very low) but the hospital obgyns are more used to seeing HG and more willing to manage it proactively.

If she’s unable to keep fluids down or is losing weight, this is definitely more serious than ‘normal’ morning sickness and she should try to speak to her hospital team if she can.

My daughters were always told there was no safe medication. I do hope she improves soon.

There are anti sickness tablets available from her doctor which might help. Tell her to speak to her midwife. Poor her! I hope it doesn't last long.

I had Hyperemesis gravidarum during the entire time with both my pregnancies, vomiting 5-16 times a day right up to the operating table for both c- sections .
Very little helped but there are medications available.

I was sick with each of mine for the whole pregnancy, the office got used to me disappearing for half the day to be sick. Not a happy time. I tried everything but it didn’t make any difference, however I was only in labour for 5 hours for my first and no labour pains at all for my second, she just shot out partly in the lift of our building. So maybe the pay off will be at the other end.

No, I’m not sure there is Jellygran. Both my daughters have suffered too, and it was basically the same treatments as we would have had. Regular dry foods, well hydrated, ginger ( if she can take it). Neither of my daughters liked it. Avoid too much travelling. You’re so limited because of what you can take whilst pregnant. It’ll hopefully just be the first trimester, and then things will settle down.
The outcome makes it all worth it though. Congratulations to you all, and hope it goes well.
