Sticky Stuff Remover

I have recently moved and the previous owners had air fresheners stuck to tiles in the bathrooms - they have removed the fresheners but have left a white sticky residue. I seem to recall a previous thread where GNs recommended a remover for sticky stuff. Can I someone please remind me what it was called

Try nail varnish remover first,I’ve had success with that with ‘sticky stuff’ ????

Bizarrely

It’s called ‘Sticky Stuff Remover’ I got it from Amazon!

Try WD40. Works for me most times. Or, you could try a warm hairdryer & a scraper. The heat might melt the wretched stuff.

WD40. It removes everything. No need to buy anything else.

Nail varnish remover is good.

WD40

Thanks for hint about WD40. My bottle of Sticky Stuff remover is nearly finished so I’ll try WD40 next time I need it

White spirit will work.

Thanks for the replies - I have some WD40 (in one of the many boxes not yet unpacked!)

I suppose I should have known it was called "sticky stuff remover"!

I mostly use Sticky stuff remover for getting the gummy residue from jars after soaking and scraping off labels. I tried WD40, but it didn’t do as good a job so I finished off with the proper Sticky Stuff Remover. Now I need to buy some more!

I would try white spirit. I use it as Farmor uses "Sticky Stuff Remover"

Thanks NotSpaghetti - I’ll try the white spirit next time. I make a lot of jam and people give me jars, but I like to get labels off completely and the modern labels are often very recalcitrant ?

White spirit is good for removing the adhesive on stick on labels.

But be careful, if you have cats. It is poisonous

I run mine through the dishwasher with the next load once I've got the labels off.

Does anything remove super glue?

MiniMoon Sun 25-Jul-21 17:20:56

Try CT1 Multisolve. My DH uses it at work to remove the stripy tape on shop floors. I believe it removes all sorts of glue.

We had a new bathroom fitted and there was a big sticker on the toilet seat saying that we were not to use chemicals on it.

I took the label off and it left a sticky, yellow residue. The plumber said he had something that would get it off but that didn't work and someone said WD40 to me and it worked perfectly but what a stupid thing for the factory to do. They nearly got the seat returned to them.
