A completely empty laundry basket

Virtual yoga stretch class early in the morning enjoyed in my calm peaceful basement space.

The smell of freshly washed sheets and towels that have been dried outside

Has anyone thought about or tried any teeth whitening either professionally or a home kit ? I’m 62 and feel conscious that my teeth are now quite discoloured.

When my little granddaughter says ‘I love you Grandma’

Sitting in the summer house with the doors wide open, looking at the garden and listening to the birds, with a good book and a large bar of chocolate.
Sunbathing beside a beautiful blue lake with mountains in the background, watching children (especially my own grandchildren) playing in the water.
Heaven!

Living by the sea, doing my garden, walking my dog and exchanging pleasantries with complete strangers.

Enjoying happy times with my family. Walking along sandy beaches looking for pretty seashells and sea glass. Taking photos of birds, butterflies and dragonflies, sunrises and sunsets. Spending time with my horses.

Yesterday my DGS made me happy. He is two this week and I should have been looking after him from a baby but Covid put a stop to that. I looked after his sister until she started school and we have such a close bond. Yesterday they took his DS to Legoland and I had him all to myself. From September he will be with me two days a week. My happiest moment came as our day was drawing to an end and he kept coming over to me and giving me big hugs and when my DS came and collected him he did not want to leave. He was screaming and holding his arms out to me. Lots of other things make me happy but today I am happy, happy, happy that at last the little man and I can spend time together one on one and look forward to the days that his big sister can be with us well.

Well my dd and I had seats last year to see singing in the rain at Sadler wells unfortunately it was postponed but we managed to get there this Saturday and it was lovely. The actors, dancers and musicians all got a standing ovation it was truly a wonderful night.

Reminding myself that I am alive, that I have reasonably good health, a decent home to live in, a lovely family and friends - many of the things that so many people, sadly, don’t have - counting my blessings, I suppose.

Trees blowing in the wind and time with my adult grandchildren 23 and 26. The light up my world.

An early sunny walk with the dog along the seafront, before the cars start and people are up. Its so quiet and peaceful and the water is so calm. Bliss.

My husband - he can always make me smile/laugh no matter how low I feel.
My sons and DILs - they're wonderful, don't know what we did to deserve them.
My grandchildren - all so different.
My dog - oh those big brown eyes!
My hobbies -losing myself in sewing or some other crafty pursuit always lifts my spirits.
My first cup of tea of the day.
The rich earthy smell of the garden after rain.
The sound of birds in the garden.
Walking on the beach with the wind in my hair.
The smell of the sea.
A roaring fire on a freezing cold day.
Children singing Christmas carols.

Blondiescot Wed 11-Aug-21 11:26:25

Very little these days. I can't honestly remember the last time I felt "happy".

Clean sheets.
Sinking into a hot bath.
Starting a new book.
The quiet of my house in the early morning.

DH. He's the one who makes every day right.
After that it's my 5 daughters and of course our beautiful grandchildren.
Apart from my fellow humans - a boat trip always makes me happy. Ditto holidays - I love adventures!
Simple pleasures - fresh bread with thick butter, clean sheets, a beautiful perfumed candle.

JadeOlivia Wed 11-Aug-21 10:58:02

My family. Admiring my son and daughter. Helping others, giving presents dinner parties in the garden, satisfied customers at work, my home.

henetha Wed 11-Aug-21 10:32:37

Being with family. It seems more important than ever now that I am very old.

harrigran Wed 11-Aug-21 09:09:16

Greyduster Wed 11-Aug-21 07:56:53

The sight of our local moorlands when the heather is out;
The sound and smell of the sea and watching wading birds;
The sight of rising trout taking mayfly on a river;
My husband, who is always happy and it’s infectious;
Family.

Wow so interesting and, uplifting to read these posts

So mainly it's family and friends which makes perfect sense

For me just because someone here has asked its having a cosy comfortable place to rest at the end of the day, relaxing time in other words

I do have grandchildren and like most here they make me happy

Your reply, were great and so interesting to read and I've learnt a thing or two for example watching the tortoise struggle then taking strength from that, brilliant
