Living by the sea, doing my garden, walking my dog and exchanging pleasantries with complete strangers.

HillyN Wed 11-Aug-21 14:25:30

Sitting in the summer house with the doors wide open, looking at the garden and listening to the birds, with a good book and a large bar of chocolate.
Sunbathing beside a beautiful blue lake with mountains in the background, watching children (especially my own grandchildren) playing in the water.
Heaven!

Has anyone thought about or tried any teeth whitening either professionally or a home kit ? I’m 62 and feel conscious that my teeth are now quite discoloured.

A completely empty laundry basket

Virtual yoga stretch class early in the morning enjoyed in my calm peaceful basement space.

The smell of freshly washed sheets and towels that have been dried outside

polly123 Wed 11-Aug-21 17:40:42

My family and friends.

My grandson has always been able to soothe the cares away - even the dreaded OFSTED when I was still teaching.

Riding my bike, especially on the flat!
And, like so many others, fresh bedlinen.
Super thread, thank you

Active social life, particularly with family.

My grandchildren when they stay with me for a few days and after less than 24hours say pleases and thank yous with no prompting. Really sad that my daughter and son in law don't seem to think it's that important.

J S Bach on radio 3 or cds every day, all sorts of other music. Lovely clean cotton sheets on bed, singing, swimming which is good in itself and helps my back, talking on the phone to my family as I cannot see them at the moment. Seeing a new flower in my garden, smelling ground coffee, scented leaf geraniums, mint , lavender, the wonderful perfume of hay being cut up the dales , newly tarred roads, sitting high up in my beloved Swaledale, looking over the landscape and watching for many interesting birds, oyster catchers , kestrels, buzzards swifts and many others, and the sound of the river.

NotAGran55 Wed 11-Aug-21 20:08:44

Obviously family and friends first .
I love driving my beautiful car to football , with music on LOUD and watching my team win! Roll on Saturday.

TillyTrotter Wed 11-Aug-21 20:17:30

Knowing my family are healthy and happy
Being made a fuss of by my cat and returning the affection
Seeing a beautiful sunset
Sitting in a garden with birdsong and the fragrance of flowers
Lunching with girl friends
Being on holiday with DH (in the UK during Covid times)

When I wake up and my heart isn’t rocking and rolling or pounding at a ridiculous speed. Good days are a joy.

GreyKnitter Wed 11-Aug-21 20:49:00

Family and friends, my garden and cats, red sky at night (I can see one now), getting lost in a good book, listening to my favourite music [different on different days), feeling well after a period of illness.

Bridie22 Wed 11-Aug-21 22:33:08

My 2 youngest GC aged 2 and 4 months as nearly all the other GC have lived abroad and bond is not as close. I have elder my GD one day a week and will have GS one day a week when Mum returns to work in February. I think I would have sunk without them.

Seabreeze Thu 12-Aug-21 00:18:02

Family and friends, my garden, feeling the glorious warmth of the sun. Good food and a good book.

Sawsage2 Thu 12-Aug-21 00:24:23

My 18 year old granddaughter NOT asking me for money ALL the time. Being alone in my bungalow. Classic fm late at night while playing games on my tablet.
