I have had a kindle for the past 10 years, not sure how it lasted so long because it was dropped quite a few times but recently the battery was for ever running out, it has now been retired (but still working) and I have bought myself another, basic backlit kindle. Would not be without it, lightweight, small so fits into a modest sized bag and is very portable.

Another paper white owner here. Can still read outside because of the 'no glare' screen. I love it!

I used to have a Kindle Fire but found I didn't really use it for anything but reading as I have other devices for everything else.

I’ve got a Paperwhite. I love it esp for reading in bed, as you can turn out the light and not disturb a sleeping partner. I still read physical books, though. There’s room in my life for both.

Authors still get a (small) royalty from books sold in Kindle versions. Doesn't help bookshops though.

I have a paper white. I loved it but unfortunately my vision is deteriorating and I now listen to audiobooks.

I generally read on my ipad with the Kindle app but I have the paper white. It is brilliant for reading in bright sunlight.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite and use it just for reading books. I look for books on offer at around a pound each and often find a new author I really enjoy, or cheap reads from more well known authors. A good thing to know is that if you have recently downloaded a book and find you really aren't enjoying, Amazon will refund you if it is inside a particular time frame. Like OP, I also feel guilty about bookshops losing revenue, so buy books from time to time. There is nothing like reading a proper book I must admit, but kindle is better for reading in bed,or popping into a bag to take on holiday.

I have both and hate them equally. Now thrown in a drawer never to see the light of day again.
Sorry Bellab

I have a Kindle fire. Love it. Loads of books on line also

I've recently bought a Kindle Paperwhite. I couldn't really see why there was such a large difference in price between it and the Oasis.
I only use it for reading books and like to keep it special for that. I splashed out on a nice cover. Reading is my treat.
Have a tablet and phone for other stuff.

The super fast charging cable is a bonus.

Love , love , love my Kindle.
Have an "Oasis" with a nice leather cover. I went for the biggest I could get - think it's about 6 and a half inches. Means you don't have to turn the pages so often. Very easy to set up ( says she who got her daughter to do it ! ) and too easy to keep buying books. Can thoroughly recommend. Only downside is bookshops not surviving so I do buy a book occasionally.
