I went to an all girl's private school as well.

Our Sex Education consisted of drawing a frog's penis.

I didn’t either. Girls boarding school until age 15. There may have been some bizarre film about Maud not swimming that week…..but I knew nothing about actual sex until a friend whose Dad was a farmer told me some stuff.

I did not know about homosexuality until I was 17 !!

The Mars Bar comment made me laugh! And the one about explaining BJs to mother - I can go one better! Years ago, my mother was reading The Scotsman newspaper at breakfast and out of the blue, asked me "what's buggery"? After almost choking on my toast and Marmite (!), I discovered she was reading a court case - and then had the joys of trying to explain it to her.

I seem to remember the subject being brought up around the time of the AIDS crisis, the Health Minister, Norman Fowler, was apparently heard to say “Surely people don’t do that!”

I was born in 1943 and convent educated. It was common knowledge in the early 1960s - and I knew the proper names for it.

As for sex education, we may not have had it at school but we discussed it among ourselves and there was plenty of information available.

Having been born in the early '60s, and a teenager in the '70s, I don't think there was anyone I knew who didn't know what it was, and most probably tried it out. Each to their own, and if you enjoy it, go for it. If you don't, that's fine too. But let's not judge others, regardless of their age, for what they enjoy doing, or choose not to do, with consenting partners, during intimate moments.

Both cunnilingus and fellatio were definitely "a thing" years ago...
There's fresco proof in Pompeii - however both were considered beyond the pale for respectable people as the mouth was considered holy.
