Perhaps I had a sheltered life but I never heard of this growing up or with any boyfriends. It wasn't until a girls holiday when I was about 40 that my friend told me she had tried it and another friend said her husband had tried but she didn't like it.
I found it hard to believe that people actually did it but now it seems one of the most common things young people do.

Gawd you’re putting me off me cheese on toast here ….

Caleo Sat 11-Sept-21 00:26:39

My boyfriend and and I invented it for ourselves. We did not need to be told how to do it.

Lucca and Sago - my mother used to pretend to be innocent too!

Jaxjacky - Sorry ‘a university physician’ was what I intended to post.

Elrel Sat 11-Sept-21 00:15:18

Jaxjacky = You’re right abut the numbers! In the ‘60s a university said that as a rule of thumb he halved the number of sexual partners male students claimed to have had and doubled the number female students said.

Hetty58 Sat 11-Sept-21 00:09:44

'We were all normal teenagers in the sixties but no one talked about sex.' - no, you weren't!

Kircubbin:

'We had no sex education growing up in 60s'

Where on Earth did you grow up? (Maybe in isolation - a convent on a remote island somewhere?)

You just have to be joking, surely!

Much would depend upon how thickly you like to spread the Marmite I guess.

I wasn't quite sure whether to answer , as thought, well, it's a private thing and what goes on between two consenting adults ..but stopped at that thought and thought ( alot of thoughts in this paragraph sorry ) , sometimes it can be a slippery slope for some, so much goes in ranging from healthy enjoyment perhaps, maybe, all the way to people pleasing and low self worth and the film industry and some women never recover mentally from a slippery slope.
So, I can't comment for me personally as, well, that's personal but I think, there is a lot of pressure and outlets and a quick buck ( I did say buck ) ways which lead to women never regaining the worth they were meant to have .

I’m confused, are you comparing oral sex to pornography?

Oral sex for many is something greatly enjoyed. Nothing devaluing about it at all.

What can I add except pass the Mars Bars!!!

^Oral sex is like Marmite. Well, it's not really like Marmite, but you know what I mean^
grin

I'd rather have Marmite to be honest

And I hate Marmite

Even my own mother (who would’ve been 90y this autumn) said ‘there’s now new under the sun’. True dat.

Not knowing about oral sex is a weird concept for someone who lived through the 1960s.

Totally agree, I’m amazed at some of the comments here some seem very naive. Sheltered lives indeed.

I don't feel I had a sheltered life. We were all normal teenagers in the sixties but no one talked about sex.

True. I did have to unroll a condom onto an undersized dildo though. NO idea why the school thought it was a good idea to buy them 2/3 of the real size. The kids didn't know where to look and I was making quips and trying to stay on the right side of acceptable.

I've had to do sex ed. theworriedwell. Didn't bother me. The students however were mortified.

You probably weren't getting questions that were very clearly designed to embarrass you about a sexual relationship with a married man and the morality of it. I'm ashamed to admit that I joined in with the sniggering although I wasn't mean enough to ask a question designed to embarrass her.

A few years later she turned up with her children at a children's sport my kids were doing and she sort of latched on to me to ask questions about how it all ran. I was never sure if she recognised me or it was just a coincidence.

Exactly... that was my point.lol

I think I led a sheltered life... I only knew about the Karma Sutra

Isn't fellatio in the Karma Sutra?

It's not a joke. The first time a man asked to try it I was in my 50s and when I refused he told me his wife would never do it either.I think he had some luck with a younger girl. We had no sex education growing up in 60s.

Well not all schools were the same as I definitely did have sex ed lessons in the 60s. We found it hilarious as we knew the poor biology teacher doing the lesson had been moved (sacked?) from another school in the city as she had been caught in a compromising position with another teacher. Some of the questions girls asked were a bit mean and made her blush.

I totally agree Sweetpeasue. Perhaps I phrased my last comment wrongly. We are all different and because one person doesn't enjoy something doesn't mean it's wrong or that no one else should enjoy it.
