Just stuck my head out - gawd it's cold, bright & sunny but cold! sunshine

I'm trying to persuade myself to get dressed and run some errands but my backside will not rise from this chair.

I might have another coffee while I think things over! smile

Yes been gardening for the last hour. Just cutting off dead stuff and tackling the moss on the drive. That’s it for today. Cloudy but not too cold out.

It's a balmy 5C, grey & gloomy and I'm still in my dressing gown.

I'm going to do some batch cooking then while that's cooling I'll hoof-it around the neighourhood, see what's going on. But I'll have another coffee to get me going.

Absolutely freezing at 7.00am when walking the dog, thick jumper, padded coat, hat, gloves etc. It was -2 .
Back out again at 12.30 to the park with him and 4 degrees then, but still cold.
We are in East Anglia near Cambridge.

I had an appointment at 12.45 and was surprised to see that there was still frost on my car windows.

I am so pleased that with my new car I can switch it on using an app on my phone and it runs for five minutes with the doors still locked! There is a quick defrost function which switches on the front and rear heated windscreens, air con, full heat etc to clear the frost and condensation very quickly.

I feel really spoiled when I hear the car humming away while I finish getting my shoes and coat on!

Was out on beach before 9am in a hoodie, scarf and a thick jacket. I was quickly too hot!
Rest of the morning, the hoodie was sufficient when outside.

The Hairy Bikers were in and around Bamburgh last week Riverwalk - absolutely stunning!

I’m in Durham. Got to drop my car off for an hour and determined to walk while I wait. It’s very sunny, icy blue sky but very cold. Might treat myself to a Costa Hot Chocolate when I’m mobile later.

Gloriously sunny but oh so cold when the wind whipped up - the BBC weather always says 'gentle breeze'!

I'm envious of those living near the Northumberland beaches - after watching Vera on Sunday. smile

About an hour ago, I looked at the max/min thermometer outside my back door and saw it was -3. It's now +1 and overnight it has been -5. I'm hibernating.

Frost on my car this morning I pushed it forward into the sun aand it melted in ten minutes so I could go to do my shopping.

GagaJo Thu 20-Jan-22 11:20:28

Not just out. Walked GS to school. It was sharp!

Blinko Thu 20-Jan-22 11:19:48

Cold and sunny here in the Black Country. I've had some health problems which have largely confined me to barracks these past two months. Today I've driven for the fist time in two months and am happy to be on the mend (fingers x-ed!) and out and about. Yay!

MiniMoon Thu 20-Jan-22 11:17:03

I'm in Northumberland too Oldbat, but in the south west corner near Hadrian's wall.

MiniMoon Thu 20-Jan-22 11:15:23

Been out to the bin. Very chilly, I didn't linger long. The Echo in the corner of my living room says it's -1°c and it certainly feels like that. The frost is still on the ground where the sun hasn't shone.

Oldbat1 Thu 20-Jan-22 11:12:23

Yes out with dogs at 8am as usual. Didn’t have to scrape the car which was a bonus. Walked to chemist and walked to Lidl. Now having a coffee with a danish - perfect. Lovely clear blue sunny skies and only a little breeze. May take dog to beach shortly. I’m in Northumberland.

Serendipity22 Thu 20-Jan-22 11:04:02

Yes my head has indeed made its way out if the front door....... to let the cat out ( or tell the cat he *is going out*) it was cold but the heat from the sun was wonderful.

Its absolutely glorious here i am sat in the kitchen with a coffee and the sun is streaming through the window. The house is south facing.

LadyPez Thu 20-Jan-22 10:58:50

Beautiful and bright but very cold in the West Country

GrandmaSeaDragon Thu 20-Jan-22 10:56:38

It was 0 at 9am, now +2 here in Rutland. Had sun a while ago, but disappeared now. Does feel very cold but only a breeze. Not surprised you’re still in bed fannycornforth after your shindig yesterday!!!

Kim19 Thu 20-Jan-22 10:53:22

Outside? Isn't it still morning?!! I'll enjoy the lovely day through the window in the interests of self preservation methnks.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 20-Jan-22 10:52:59

Stunning but freezing in the Scottish Borders

Calendargirl Thu 20-Jan-22 10:52:35

I did a Tesco shop at 8am.

Have just returned from Aquacise. Pool was not very warm.

I agree Hetty that sunny and clear is better than gloomy and damp! sunshine

I'm finally showered and dressed - wearing a Danish polo neck so very 'Hygge' and hot to trot.

AGAA4 Thu 20-Jan-22 10:49:15

I am just back from a walk. I can confirm that it is freezing. The puddles at the country park had all frozen over and it was frosty in places. It certainly woke me up. Having a hot coffee now to thaw out.
