The GP's certificate to confirm I was too ill to travel, cost £47!
Probably took three minutes to fill out, Marydoll.

I can't remember exactly how much AllClear insurance was but it was before Covid and was £200 less than StaySure for a long single trip for just me.

I switched to All Clear after Staysure ditched me! I claimed after becoming unwell and my GP said I wasn't fit to fly.
All Clear paid out quickly, but after admin fees etc, I got a lot less than I had hoped for.

The Christmas before Covid hit, I flew to New York with my family for four days.
The single trip insurance for DH and I cost £1000. DH was not amused, as his share was probably pennies, but it was a once in a lifetime trip.

Staysure got suddenly more expensive even though I had never claimed so I switched to AllClear last time which was considerably less. However, they did want £50 extra if I wanted to leave the airport for a 3 hour trip round Singapore.
That was pre-Covid, however.

Staysure ?

It was Staysure which put me onto Payingtoomuch which apparently a subsidiary.

I used to have an annual policy with Staysure, as I have pre-existing conditions.
After I developed another condition, they would no longer insure me annually and cancelled my policy. They were most most unhelpful.
I found another company, but I had to buy single trip insurance each time. Now I'm uninsurable.
Remember, they will look for any reason not to pay out, so you need to be thorough and honest, when answering the questions.

Look around as Espee says, to get the best deal. You also have to ensure you have ample cover, if you have pre-existing conditions, cheapest isn't always best.

We always use Columbus Direct. Their prices are reasonable and more to the point when I was unfortunate enough to be hospitalised when on holiday in the USA a few years ago they paid everything without question. They also refunded our single trip insurance in full soon after the pandemic started when flights were discontinued.

Do shop around first then try "paying too much travel insurance". There was a thread going around the time I was looking for annual policy and that was by far the best.

Can anyone recommend an insurance company to use for holidays? ?
I'm thinking of getting annual cover as hoping to make up for lost time!
