Patterned paint roller. Ever used one?

My small lounge is rather bland with magnolia walls.
Thought I may just paint a feature wall to liven things up.
This evolved into thoughts of using a patterned paint roller. The results, on line, look impressive, subtle and easy on the eye.
Has anyone ever used one?
My patience and my decorating skills are rather minimal…..
Thanks in advance.

Hi Stoker ,

Have to admit that I haven't .
Some on Etsy are so pretty and the reviews look good .
I'd be very tempted .
I think that I might find it hard on my wrists .
I've done a lot of stencilling when it was in fashion .
I still like the designs by Henny Donovan .
I've also sectioned off areas with masking tape to make colour blocks -and it's been really easy plus effective .
And also done free hand artwork .
I think that you might need to do some practice and experimenting with your project .
Wishing you luck .

I have a wood effect one, and used it on my cupboard doors in the kitchen.
It reflects my rather slapdash attempts.

is that a roller for patterned paint ??
sounds like a skilled job.
or do you mean the equivalent of stippling, rag-rolling etc.

Thank you, all, for your replies.
It looks like a normal roller but has additional roller attached with ingrained pattern on.
You use ordinary paint. I read matt is best.
There are tutorials on YouTube.
The patterns look really pretty.
As I said, my walls are magnolia. I’ll
Keep that base colour and use maybe a coffee or soft amber paint for the over pattern.
If it turns out a mess I can just paint over it.

That sounds like a fun experiment with a solid Plan B just in case!
We 'stippled' in a previous house and were pleased with the result. We have found rollers give a better result than brushes.
Good luck!

Stoker48, yes, I've used one with a woodgrain effect - great fun. I've also used a home-made stencil for a kitchen feature wall, also frog tape for divided colours (as picure) or stripes!

These days, due to a dodgy back, my painting skills have declined - so I prefer removeable (but not self-adhesive) wallpaper. It's easy to change when required. I hate magnolia with a vengeance but I do like white.
