Facial hair

I have the dreaded peach fuzz ( or Old Lady fuzz as I call it) and I use an epilator. It’s really good and plucks the hairs rather than shaving them off. It makes my eyes water when I’m using it but the effects last several weeks. I bought mine from Boots about four years ago when it cost around £50.

Slight discomfort? Your pain threshold must be very high!

Electrolysis didn't work for me. Neither did laser light treatment.
Ruby laser was great for a few years then it started to retrn.
Electrolysis is supposed to destroy the hair follicle - and for some, it works.
Laser works on the pigment in the hair so if your whiskers are white then it won't work.
Embrace your fuzziness and tweeze out any stronger whiskers.

Oh the joys of getting older. I had a couple of chin hairs which were like barbed wire and use the Finishing Touch Flawless device. It’s great in removing lip and chin hair but regrowth is pretty quick. So I invested in the Philips Lumea IPL when it was on offer in Costco about 6 months ago and noticed a difference after several uses but you have to be consistent. Also, it’s not suitable for fair hair.
It’s fairly pricey but a good buy compared to how much I’ve spent on professional waxing and other treatments over the years.

I use a Braun Silk Epil. It wasn’t cheap but it is excellent for all over body hair depilation. I use it on my face whenever I feel a sprouty hair and it does work. Saved a fortune on waxing so far.

Some of the posters on here could earn good money as stand up comediennes - great responses ?

I'm fortunate enough to have fine, white hairs (to match my head....), so inly occasionally have to use an epilator or shave. I have a very strong magnifying mirror so use that in good light to hunt out the horrible little b*ggers. However there is a particularly bramble-like little lurker which sprouts out of a mole on my cheek. As soon as that is just long enough to be grabbed by tweezers, it is summarily evicted. What is horrifying, is that although the outer bit is so short, the bit that comes out is so long I swear it's longer than the depth of my cheek?

I have one thick hair above my lip - regularly plucked out - and lots of 'peach down' on my cheeks.

Beware the facial epilator, though! I got one to tackle the down but neglected to stretch the skin taut first. Result? It somehow grabbed my chubby cheek and attached itself firmly. Shock horror and panic, followed by carefully pinching and pulling my skin away from it!

Maybe, one day, I'll try using it again?

Yes why is that Exdancer the hair on my upper lip remains stubbornly black as well.

Theodora I use Nair facial hair remover but then apply Savlon cream so it doesn't burn.

I had electrolysis on my chin every 6 weeks for years, but it was a never ending battle - my beautician told me it is only effective on a follicle during a growing phase so it could take several visits to stop that follicle producing? And then more take over ………
Anyway I now have a chin wax every 6 weeks (lots cheaper!) and use tweezers in between!

I had several sessions of electrolysis before the first lockdown, but haven’t had any since. The hairs on my chin and upper lip have come back, but there’s not as many as before. I shave the hairs off now as I don’t want to have electrolysis at the present time because I’m a wuss. It was uncomfortable, but just this side of bearable!

My MiL had a hairy chin. She also had dementia. She used to love it when I plucked her chin. Would sit for ages whilst I plucked away, never complained although it always looked a bit red when I’d finished! Win win really as I am a bit of a ‘picker’. I’ve only got my own chin to go at now and it’s not very satisfying.
Perhaps I could be of use to other hairy ladies - chin only though……

There’s a facial epilator called Whizzit, which works really well. Painful the first few times you use it, but you do get used to it and hardly notice it.

I bought a little facial epilator on ebay, quick buzz every week or so and problem solved. It's effective and I've had it for a couple of years now with no problems recharging. If a particularly stubborn hair remains, I tweeze it out!

I used to get threaded regularly, then they broke through that too quickly, so I plucked. The chin hairs just brought their friends along to party. During Lockdown I got away with shaving a couple of times a week, huzzah for masks! Now I have a quick swipe every morning.

When I had chemo 9 years ago, I was as bald as Uncle Fester - but the chin hairs persisted. On the plus side, so did my eyebrows and eyelashes...?

Happiness causes facial hair growth. No hair growth at home but as soon as you sit down for a nice romantic meal or arrive at a party or sit in a cafe for tea and cake with friends out they pop. Growing half an inch immediately.

I epilate my upper lip, it’s a bit ouchy at first but now I’m used to it.
It literally takes seconds.

I have one silly hair that grows near my mouth. I pluck it when I see it’s grown again.

I still have a good head of hair, and I have worried at times that various medical stuff might have caused hair loss but it hasn’t. My eyebrows have become thinner thanks to thyroid disease but that has worked in my favour. My chin though is another story! I find it easiest to just spend 5 minutes checking it every morning and tweezing out any offending hairs. Dab on a little skin serum to prevent any irritation and I’m ready for a snog, erm I mean a morning kiss with Mr.B
