Today I got my house/kitchen to myself as DH will be out for most of the day, so I decided to do a bit of baking, as planned anyway.
I had some cooking apples from DS1's garden that needed attention so made an apple pie with them.
I've run out of brown bread so I made a wholemeal loaf alongside the apple pie.
I usually try to bake a couple of cakes at the same time, especially now when we're trying to save on energy.
Hopefully they'll both turn out well and I can enjoy fresh slices of brown bread for lunch.
I'd like to hear what you're baking today!

I will make a walnut and cranberry loaf as I have the ingredients and a pear and almond cake a la Mary Berry.

I was thinking of trying an apple crumble in the airfryer ? Any one tried this ?

I wasn’t planning to bake but inspired by this thread I will make scones this afternoon. I got a wooden spoon engraved with the names on from my GC for my birthday on Tuesday. Gs comes after school today and will be aching to try it out!

Walnut and cranberry loaf sounds nice Grandmabatty could you share the recipe please?

Rock buns because all the family love them, and Mary Berry lemon cake.

Lemon cake for my DGD1 with candles. She's arriving tomorrow and off to look around Falmouth uni on Saturday. Lemon because it's her favourite ours too and we shall have an early celebration as she is 18 in December and we won't see them again till next year.

I see four black spotty bananas in the fruit bowl.

I have got everything thing out to do a banana cake, but I’ve run out of energy to tackle it after cleaning up after the plasterer in the back room. Such a dusty mess ground into my wooden floor. My wrists ache too much after mopping.

I made a Boiled Pineapple Fruit Cake on the weekend. Tomorrow I'll make some Lemon Yoghurt Muffins and a Lemon Coconut Slice.
Hopefully some of the family will arrive over the weekend to devour them so I don't have to.

It's lovely to read about what you plan to bake, they all sound delicious.
I tried the wholemeal bread for lunch, which was lovely and crusty, so am well pleased with myself.
We'll try the apple pie in the evening after dinner.

Not today but on Wednesday I made Rhubarb Pie and to bake alongside (multi use for the oven to save energy) Rock cakes as they are quick & easy.

Thank you Grandmabatty

I suppose you may call it baking. It's only the end of a home baked sourdough loaf that I got in a present. I sliced it, buttered it, cut it into bitesizes, and mixed in some grated cheese. It's now in the oven . I'll have it with sliced cherry tomatoes.

Might I just add that I also defrosted the chest freezer this morning so am now feeling VERY virtuous ?
