Has anyone seen this film?

From what I've read it's a harmless piece of fluff, which could be just what we need!

My sister and I went to see it yesterday - fantastic film. We went to see the Dior Exhibition at the V&A a couple of years ago and we make all our own clothes so it was a real treat to watch. Best bit was that it only cost £5 each - went at 2.15pm. Must go to the cinema more regularly at that price. We plan to combine it with a meal afterwards next time - so definitely a taxi home.

I went to see it with a friend on Tuesday. It was implausible, mainly predictable, but with a few surprises, and thoroughly enjoyable. We loved it and would recommend it as great light-hearted entertainment.

I would love to have seen more of the dresses. There is a video on YouTube showing how the replicas were made - well worth. seeking out.

I’m planning to go and see this at the weekend, sounds like a good film for a Sunday afternoon.

I recall reading two sentimental books by Paul Gallico, one, Mrs Harris... and the other, The Snow Goose in, I think, the late fifties.
I was young and thought the books were a bit soppy then, but sentiment has its place, I suppose.

Whiff

I remember seeing this film when Angela Lansbury and Omar Sharif where the stars. This is a third remake of the film . Don't know who starred in the original.

I don't go to the pictures hopefully it will be on TV in a couple of years.

Other feel good films are Shirley Valentine,Mrs Callicot's cabbage wars and Educating Rita.

A couple of years?!?! Don't worry it will be on streaming in no time! They don't wait nowadays u less it's a huge blockbuster!

We went to see it this afternoon thoroughly enjoyable, a bit of escapism from all the doom and gloom at the moment. In fact some people clapped at the end !

I love the 1992 version with Angela Lansbury and Omar Shariff. I can't imagine this being better than that, but I haven't found a bad review at all.

I read the book years ago, it was heart-breaking from what I remember. I don't want that memory sullied - even if it's a false memory.

We enjoyed the film. Light hearted and heartwarming in a way.

The Angela Lansbury original was wonderful. Available on You Tube for free!

Going to see it this afternoon- trailer looked great so looking forward to a 'fluffy' afternoon!!

I have just travelled to the States to see my DD and DGC and saw it on the plane. I really enjoyed the film, and would like to see it on a larger screen to appreciate the beautiful fashions. Yes, it is 'fluff', but very light and fun to watch.

I read the book many moonsago, or saw a B&W film, I can't remember which! Nice story, and that version had some snobbery and class division...not sure about this version.

MooM00 Wed 05-Oct-22 13:28:47

Yes I saw it on Monday, a really lovely story, very heart lifting. I have to say I would even go again.

My friend and her sister invited me to go tomorrow night with them, but I didn't fancy it after seeing the trailer. Now I'm wondering should I go...

Not on line yet….booh!

Irismarle Wed 05-Oct-22 13:10:53

I was interested that the original book title was ‘Flowers for Mrs Harris’. Don’t you think the film title ‘Mrs Harris Goes to Paris’ with its jingle type rhyme is so much snappier!

Sawsage2 Wed 05-Oct-22 12:26:11

Saw it on stage twice in Sheffield Crucible with Clare Burt as Mrs Harris, wonderful.

JdotJ Wed 05-Oct-22 12:05:19

Going tomorrow with 3 friends to see it. Didn't realise its a remake (not that that's a problem)

Tusue Wed 05-Oct-22 11:25:38

pen50 Wed 05-Oct-22 11:16:33

Haven't seen the films but loved the original book! Paul Gallico (also loved Jennie, Scruffy, The Snow Goose.)

Joseanne

I've just read that a lot of the filming took place in Budapest. Are there still scenes of the real Paris in it?

The Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame made a brief appearance in the background! Based on the names on the long list of credits I'd say it was entirely filmed in Budapest.

BigBertha1 Tue 04-Oct-22 06:58:58

Oh dear we went on Sunday and didn't like it at all. I'm fact we thought it overlong and we both were a bit bored.
