We have a small Lavazza. I like Kenco instant but my husband likes his cafetiere and pods. Lavazza pods are so expensive. When it stops working I will buy one that uses compatibles.

Lidl sells Nespresso compatible pods which will work in Nespresso machines.

Nespresso tried to sue them, but lost!

I didn't know that, Fleurpepper!

I have a nespresso style machine and I buy coffee pods from a company called foodylicious. They supply coffee pods that are compostable and the Costa Rican and Guatemalan pods are both delicious.

On the coffee pod subject - I have had delivered, from my local Council, a plastic bin and bags specifically for the pods to go into after use.

Personally I didn't want with pods, as they are so un-ecological and hugely expensive. I bought a machine in Germany with a container for the coffee grains, and a water tank. It makes 2 cups at a time. It grinds the coffee before each cup (well 1 or 2), either small or large- and when the container is full, the grounds go straight onto the garden. It also has a steam spout for making cappucino, which we don't use.

It is a DeLonghi. More expensive to buy, but last for ever and much much cheaper to use, and you have much more choice of coffee too.

I have never had a coffee machine but look at them every time I see them. I am tempted but with so many makes and flavours of coffee on the shelves wonder if it is worth it. What would other GNS recommend?

The Lakeland machine was the one I wanted junie1 but they won't have it in stock until November 8th and I needed it earlier.

Senseo use bags, a bit like tea bags.

Lakeland do a machine that use both the Nepresso type and Dolce Gusto pods. It has 2 attachments. We have looked at it. It does look good.
