Iron recommendations! Dull but vital 😉

I bought a Tefal Freemove Air , NOT recommended, worse I've ever had.

Dilly Have you decoked your iron? I do mine every few months with white vinegar. We have very hard water too.

Thanks for the recommendations, I’m going to give the Morphy Richards, a go I think. I’ve bought ironing water from the supermarket before, but not thought to look for it elsewhere, perhaps I can find some in bulk Unscented so another of my irons doesn’t gasp it’s last choking on limescale (and also throwing it up all over my clothes).

I would recommend a Morphy Richards comfigrip iron. I’m on my second and am very pleased with it. My DH is fussy about his shirts! I don’t mind the smell of the ironing water but think using a water filter jug would be a good alternative.

Can’t comment on your hard water issue, but after my expensive Polti steam generator system gave up the ghost, I bought a simple Morphy Richards iron from Argos. It’s one heat only and switches itself off if left too long out of use. It serves its purpose.

Otherwise I am not an iron expert (DH is!).

You can buy deionised water for irons, otherwise use a descaler occasionally.

Deionised water is commonly used in steam irons instead of ordinary 'tap' water because it already has the impurities or mineral ions removed which stops the calcium build up and help pro long the steam irons life, it also makes the steam more pure which makes helps when the steam hits the item in question.

Do you have a water filter?
That would help.
Also regular descaling.
I only do "ordinary" ironing so my iron is quite "ordinary" too!
