I had an email in my inbox recently stating that there was a PM in my GransNet inbox. On opening the link and accessing my GN inbox the message had been deleted.
The message senders profile name was still there though - has anyone else had a PM message from 'revchris' ?
I am puzzled and a little alarmed by this as you can appreciate. I don't recall ever seeing a post anywhere with that user name.

I had exactly the same yesterday! Strange.

Think there has been other complaints about this poster, and GN has deleted his/her posts.

I think most of us had this message, but it was a spam message that was offensive in some way, and GN removed it from the system, but the automatic notifications in our Inboxes remained.

We get this blanket messages now and again. Previous ones have often been attempts to lure us into romance frauds.

You will not have seen the name before because the spammer joins GN just before he launches the spam and, beyond harvesting anyone foolish enough to respond, he, and it almost always is a 'he' probably never comes near GN again.

GN is usually very prompt in removing such spams. Hence the empty messages in our Inboxes yesterday.

Thank you all for your comments.
Private messaging is a great way to offer advice and support isn't it? I have known members to become 'pen-pals' ( who remembers those from our youth? ) simply from a PM.
But it is equally annoying that the facility is being abused by a minority. Have a good day smile

I had it too. All that's left is the subject: God bless you and your family

I looked "revchris1" up on a spam detector site. It's seems the IP address is a recognised sender of forum spam.

ParlourGames So true I have made such good friends via PMs over the years and keep in touch on a regular basis with all of them.

I too had a deleted pm from that poster yesterday, so thank you for pointing out what it is all about.
