I am, although been up for three hours!

I have errands to run and it's a balmy 4C outside so really should be up and out but I can't get going - might have another coffee instead cafe

No way. I never use mine. Dressed as soon as I get up.
Lots to do today and I need to pace myself with short breaks so I must get on to the next task.

I’m just sat here in my dressing gown with my first cuppa of the day , mornings are always at my worst as it takes ages for my painkiller medication to take effect , but then once motivated I’ll shower & dress as be going out this afternoon to see my granddaughters .

No no no only if I m very ill never use my dressing gown I shower and dressed straight out of bed at 7

Georgesgran Sat 28-Jan-23 10:54:55

Not today. at the end of last year, I replaced my traditional dressing gown with a full length long zipped up robe [Amazon] which I tend to wear most of the day, unless I am going out. It’s very warm and I feel more than presentable in it, and have no problem going out to the bin or taking in parcels wearing it. I’m planning to get another in a different colour.

At only 9.33? Amateur!

I often speak to my Swedish friend (in Stockholm) at 10.30 or even later - we’re frequently both still in our dressing gowns - and Swedish time is an hour later!

The trusty dressing gown goes on once I'm awake - at no specific time - and I've been for my first "bathroom break" of the morning. I then go back to bed while Mr. G makes our morning tea (he's in his dressing gown too) and then we have a companionable hour or so of reading, chatting and laughing before our ablutions and dressing; I don't spend "downstairs" time in my dressing gown though.

I like the sound of that robe, Georgesgran, might be just the thing for evening tv watching/general relaxing.

Yes, and feeling guilty. Not usually. I've bought new pillows and we have both slept late.DD often face times and I'll get caught. We have two bathrooms but both still use the ensuite I'm thinking of moving to the other as I tend to go second. To ease my conscience, I have planned what today's bag will contain, all the discarded pillows. So a day of rest. Tomorrow I'm sorting unused kitchen implements whilst I cook.blush

No, but I was at 9.10 am. I got up at 7.30 am, took a cup of tea back to bed and read my book. Got up, reluctantly took off lovely cosy dressing gown, had a shower, washed my hair and went downstairs to sit and have a coffee with DH. As Maw says, “why not?”.

OnwardandUpward Sat 28-Jan-23 12:02:25

No because I'm still in bed drinking coffee, but about to get up.

aggie Sat 28-Jan-23 12:13:57

I’m out for lunch with family , teen granddaughter has a wrap around camel coat , very stylish with cinched belt , waiter opened his mouth to say something just as she took it off to sit down . Seems he thought she was wearing a dressing gown and was relieved she was dressed and not in pjs , caused much hilarity !

PammyHoops Sat 28-Jan-23 12:44:55

Yes, sat with a coffee in my dressing gown. I met with friends on the beach for a swim and breakfast at 9.00, came home to warm up and have a shower. I will remain well wrapped for a while longer.

Zoejory Sat 28-Jan-23 12:52:41

Yes, lovely lazy morning in very comfortable attire. Due to pain I'm thinking of going back to bed for a while. I'll eventually surface, have a bath and get dressed in clean PJS and gown.

VioletSky Sat 28-Jan-23 13:04:00

Im cold and its a wearable blanket so yes I'm still in it

I'm technically dressed underneath though in leggings and a tunic but they may as well be pyjamas and I refuse to wear a bra in the house unless there are visitors... and even then it depends on the visitor lol

Serendipity22 Sat 28-Jan-23 15:41:35

I feel really awkward, like its wrong to be in my dressing gown past 9am.... its a really odd feeling and 1 that I THINK came from childhood where I never ever saw my mum downstairs in any form of nightwear, strange. So I'm up, washed, dressed well before 9am.

I have friends who stay in their dressing gown allllll say, when they tell me I say "and why the heck not" but
I know that I couldn't do it..... so each to their own...

😃

On a bad day it take take me a while to get going but I really don't like still being in my dressing gown beyond 9 am or so as it makes me feel slovenly - I'm lazy enough as it is so I don't need any encouragement.

Luckygirl3 Sat 28-Jan-23 16:39:06

Still in dressing gown - feeling crap with a virus - I have never not got dressed! But hopefully the rest is therapeutic.

LadyHonoriaDedlock Sat 28-Jan-23 17:25:21

Dressing gown? I'm still in my pyjamas!

TillyTrotter Sat 28-Jan-23 17:57:00

Often in my dressing gown at 10.30 a.m. but I don’t have any dogs to walk or newspapers to fetch.
I will make phone calls - even Zoom calls to family - in my dressing gown. It’s a smart one 🤭

Grandmafrench Sat 28-Jan-23 18:34:10

You clearly have standards, Tilly - me, not so much, though I did Zoom last night fully dressed! 🤣
I probably win today because the only thing that prompted us to shower and dress AT 4PM ……was the impending visit of a Nurse to give DH his daily post-Arthroplasty injection !
We’ve had a really busy and somewhat difficult week, which included a broken rib and the sudden loss of a good friend here in France on holiday. No calls on our time today so we thought we’d just chill, and for that we feel better. Duvet days, dressing gown days, we all need them.
Feel lots better soon, Lucky 💐

I am exactly like you*violet sky.* I wear my dressing gown over my leggings and hoody it keeps me snug. Im a bit like Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes he always wore his dressing gown over his clothes.Elementary.

VioletSky Sat 28-Jan-23 19:11:28

Lol

It is entirely logical

The noble dressing gown is known as Welsh national dress in my family!

😂
Oh I like that.

Oreo Sat 28-Jan-23 20:27:54

I love a cosy dressing gown, fleecy if possible. It goes on at any time of day if I’m feeling chilly.

Never! Promised myself that when I retired I wouldn’t be one of those still in my dressing gown at midday. I do sleep in until 8:30 now but then it’s teeth brushed and straight into the shower. Husband is a different story but it’s his retirement too and he can do whatever he likes.

Interesting...

what does "being in your dressing gown at midday" mean to you?

I love my fleecy dressing gowns and have one suitable for answering the door in after 9.30am....but I have washed and combed my hair...
