I'm trying to trace a children's book for a friend; all she can recall is that it was in the seventies or eighties, and has a girl called Francesca as the main character - a 'girl with curly hair'.
Quite a long shot, but can anyone recall this? It would mean a lot to an elderly lady if I can track it down.

I just tried googling but could only find an author called Francesca.
Might be worth trying again.

Could it be ‘ A Girl Named Francesca ‘ by AnneMarie Norden?
It’s available on Amazon but £60 for a paperback!

That sounds possible as it's a translation from the German Franziska Struwwelkopf which means shaggy head.

Isn’t t’internet wonderful. Really pleased you found what you were looking for.

My mum told me about a song with her name in from pre war days and when I typed the first line up it popped.

silverlining Yes - I never cease to love the way you can have instant information, or settle bickering, and not have to wait. I have to say the person who wanted this book is so thrilled that I'm glad I asked on here.
